MEN’S SOCCER EDGES FRANKLIN PIERCE, 1-0, IN NE10 OPENER

Rindge, N.H. – Junior forward Salar Faryar (Frankfurt, Germany/Max-Eyth Schule) netted the game's only goal to lead the Le Moyne College men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory at Franklin Pierce University on Tuesday night in the Northeast-10 Conference opener for both teams at Sodexo Field. The Dolphins have started the year 4-0 for the first time since the 2000 season, head coach Tom Bonus' first season on the sidelines.

After each team put a shot on goal over the first 12 and one-half minutes, the Dolphins netted the game's only goal. Sophomore back Robert Rohrhirsch (Garching bei München, Germany/Werner-Heisenberg-Gymnasium Garching/Munich University of Applied Sciences) sent a through ball from the top of the penalty box and Faryar was able to fire it into the back of the net at the 12:40 mark for his team-best fourth goal of the year. With the goal, Faryar takes sole possession of 12th place on the program's all-time goals scored chart with his 25th, while he ties Robert Moskwa '07 for 14th place on the career points list with 55.

Each team recorded five shots over the final 32 minutes of the half, with four of Franklin Pierce's shots needing to be saved by redshirt freshman goalkeeper Josh Mahr (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius).

Franklin Pierce held a 5-4 edge in shots in the second half, but none of the nine shots required a save.

Mahr earned his third victory and second shutout of the season after registering five saves. Jadel Poon-Lewis recorded one save in the loss for the Ravens. Franklin Pierce finished the game with a 14-12 edge in shots and a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Le Moyne (1-0), which has won back-to-back games in Rindge after going winless in the previous nine meetings (0-8-1), returns home to host Southern New Hampshire University, which received votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches national poll, on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
