Syracuse, N.Y. - Alex Satrustegui scored a pair of goals to lead Southern New Hampshire University to a 3-1 win over the Le Moyne College in a battle of undefeated teams on Saturday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.
In the scoreless first half, the Penmen recorded a 4-3 advantage in shots, including 2-1 in shots on goal.
Following almost 20 and one-half minutes of scoreless play to start the second half, the Penmen broke through with the game's first goal. After taking a feed from Tom Marriott, Satrustegui fired a shot into the lower left corner of the net at the 65:25 mark from the right side of the penalty box.
Just under five minutes later, Southern New Hampshire doubled its lead. Off a through ball from Ramon Hofmann, Satrustegui netted his national-best 12th goal of the year into the upper right corner of the net at the 70:08 mark.
Another five minutes later, the Dolphins took advantage of a Southern New Hampshire foul to score its goal. Junior forward
Salar Faryar (Frankfurt, Germany/Max-Eyth Schule) blasted the free kick into the upper right corner from outside the left edge of the penalty box at the 75:33 mark for his fifth goal of the campaign, tied for the second-most in the conference behind Satrustegui.
The Dolphins had a chance to even the score at two in the 80th minute, but goalkeeper Daniel Milton was able to catch a shot from the top of the goal box.
In a counterattack to an unsuccessful offensive flurry by the Dolphins, the Penmen finished off the game's scoring with a breakaway with 2:34 remaining. Marriott carried the ball up the right side of the field before centering the ball to João Brum, who slotted a shot into the right side of the net for his second goal of the year.
Redshirt freshman goalkeeper
