Syracuse, N.Y. – Graduate student forward
Marek Weber (Fulda, Germany/Sportgymnasium Jena/Goethe-University Frankfurt) and junior forward
Salar Faryar (Frankfurt, Germany/Max-Eyth Schule) each recorded five points to lead the Le Moyne College men's soccer team to a 6-0 victory over American International College in Northeast-10 Conference action on Wednesday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.
The Dolphins scored the only goal they would need 23 and one-half minutes into the contest. Off a feed up the field, Weber collected the ball at the top of the penalty box and played it back to sophomore midfielder
Joe Falcone (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius), who ripped a shot into the lower left corner at the 23:26 mark for his second goal of the season.
Le Moyne doubled its lead in the 42nd minute. Off a free kick from outside the left edge of the penalty box, sophomore midfielder
Robert Rohrhirsch (Garching bei München, Germany/Werner-Heisenberg-Gymnasium Garching/Munich University of Applied Sciences) played the ball to the top left corner of the goal box, where Weber was able to redirect the ball out of the air and inside the left post at the 41:21 mark for his fourth tally of the campaign.
Less than four and one-half minutes into the second half, the Dolphins extended their lead to three. On a ball sent towards the goal by Faryar from the right side of the penalty box, Weber was able to tap the ball into the net from just off the end line at the 49:27 mark for his fifth tally of the year.
Just 1:47 later, Le Moyne made it 4-0. Off a feed from the top of the penalty box by Rohrhirsch, Faryar slipped a shot into the net from the center of the field seven yards out.
Off a free kick from 24 yards out on the left side at the 71:52 mark, Faryar tallied his seventh goal of the season. With the goal, Faryar moved into a tie with Matthew Pecheone '09 for ninth place on the program's goals scored list with his 28th, while moving into 12th place on the career points list.
The Dolphins completed the game's scoring in the final minute. After carrying the ball down the end line on the right side, junior midfielder
Pablo Fernandez (Aviles, Spain/Real Oviedo) sent a pass across the goal. Freshman midfielder
Josh Doback (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) raced in and knocked the ball in from seven yards out with 58 seconds left for his first career goal.
