WOMEN’S SOCCER FALLS AT FRANKLIN PIERCE, 4-1

Rindge, N.H. – Veronica Marques registered five points to lead Franklin Pierce University to a 4-1 win over the Le Moyne College women's soccer team on Wednesday night in Northeast-10 Conference action at Sodexo Field.

After the Dolphins had the first two shots of the game, the Ravens started the scoring in the 10th minute. Off a pass from the left side by Nathalia Maria da Silva into the box, Marques slotted her third goal of the season into the back of the net at the 9:43 mark.

Marques doubled her team's lead at the 19:07 mark as she one-timed a centering pass from the left side of the end line by Sophie Cousineau inside the right post.

The Ravens put two more shots on goal over the final 25 minutes of the half, but each was saved.

After the Dolphins had a goal disallowed in the 52nd minute due to a handball, Franklin Pierce pushed its lead to 3-0 less than eight minutes into the second half. Marques sent a pass from the top of the box to the left side to Bruna Tavares, who finished inside the right post at the 52:42 mark for her first goal of the campaign.

The Ravens finished off their scoring with 3:24 to play. Off a Le Moyne turnover at the top of the penalty box, Caitlin Ryan collected the ball and fired a shot inside the right post for her first tally of the year.

The Dolphins took advantage of a Franklin Piece foul in the final minute to get on the scoreboard. Off a free kick from the left wing by freshman back Vittoria Fuduli (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow), freshman midfielder Lainey Foti (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) registered her first career goal from the top of the goal box with 36 seconds to play.

Senior goalkeeper Anastasija Cumika (Riga, Latvia/Riga Kengarags/West Florida) registered eight saves, including five in the second half, in the loss. Casey Kane earned the win after turning away two shots in the opening six minutes. Franklin Pierce registered a 20-5 advantage in shots, including 11-3 in the second half, while taking five of the game's six corner kicks.

Le Moyne (2-2, 0-2 NE10), which yielded more than one goal to the Ravens for the first time since 2014, opens the home portion of its NE10 schedule on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. against Stonehill College.
