WOMEN’S SOCCER RECORDS 2-1 VICTORY OVER NEW HAVEN

Syracuse, N.Y. – Sophomore forward Maddison Vine (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Lisbon) scored the game-winning goal midway through the 41st minute as the Le Moyne College women's soccer team registered a 2-1 victory over the University of New Haven on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ted Grant Field.

The Dolphins opened the game's scoring in the 27th minute. After taking the ball from a New Haven defender, sophomore forward Elizabeth Maguire (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) carried the ball towards the top left corner of the penalty box before sliding a pass to classmate Elizabeth Glynn (Pittsford, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy), who fired a shot inside the near left post from 10 yards out at the 26:18 mark for her first goal of the season.

Le Moyne doubled its lead with just over four and one-half minutes remaining in the first half. After the ball got knocked around at the top of the goal box, Vine knocked the loose ball into the left side of the net at the 40:28 mark for her first tally of the campaign.

After each team put a shot on goal over the opening 18 and one-half minutes of the second half, the Chargers cut their deficit in half. Off a Le Moyne pass that was deflected across the field from the left side to the center, Emily Morello collected the loose ball and fired a shot into the upper left corner of the net from 13 yards out at the 65:10 mark for her fifth goal of the season.

Neither team registered a shot over the final 24:50 of the game.

Senior goalkeeper Anastasija Cumika (Riga, Latvia/Riga Kengarags/West Florida) finished the contest with four saves to earn her third win of the season. Paige Davis made one save in the loss for the Chargers. New Haven posted a 5-4 edge in shots, including 2-1 in the second half, while taking four of the game's five corner kicks.

Le Moyne (3-4, 1-3 NE10), which snapped a four-game losing streak, is back at Ted Grant Field on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. against The College of Saint Rose.
