Alfred, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's and women's swimming and diving teams registered a sweep of Alfred University on Tuesday afternoon at Lebohner Pool. The women's team recorded a 143-84 victory, while the men edged the Saxons, 124-119.
The quartet of freshmen
Jordyn Sommo (Guilderland, N.Y./Guilderland),
Mikael Ann Melfi (Clayton, N.Y./Thousand Islands) and
Claire Rejman (Scipio Center, N.Y./Southern Cayuga) and sophomore
Haley Synan (Belchertown, Mass./Belchertown) opened the meet by winning the 200-yard medley relay in 1:57.60.
Freshman
Vicky Silaika (Rexford, N.Y./Shenendehowa) recorded the team's first individual win of the afternoon by topping the field in the 1,000-yard freestyle by over seven seconds with a time of 11:27.81.
Junior
Haley Decker (Vernon, N.Y./Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) touched the wall first in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:02.77 to win by almost four seconds. She earned her second win of the day with a time of 1:03.62 to win the 100-yard butterfly by just 0.11 seconds.
Senior
Haley Buchholz (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) was victorious in the 50-yard freestyle by 0.24 seconds with a time of 26.33 seconds. She later won the 100-yard freestyle by 0.30 seconds with a time of 57.43 seconds.
Synan earned an individual win with a time of 4:51.89 in the 400-yard IM to win by almost 14 seconds.
Melfi collected the team's final individual victory with a time of 1:12.60 to win the 100-yard breaststroke by 2.50 seconds.
Sommo, Decker and Buchholz teamed with junior
Jamie Alexander (Pine Bush, N.Y./Pine Bush) to win the meet-ending 200-yard freestyle relay by over 3.5 seconds with a time of 1:46.38.
On the men's side, the Dolphins had a trio of double-winners.
Sophomore
Austin Richardson (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) earned the team's first victory of the day with a time of 10:15.63 in the 1,000-yard freestyle to win by almost four seconds. He completed the sweep of the distance events with a time of 4:58.11 in the 500-yard freestyle to win by just 0.12 seconds.
Junior
Matthew Walton (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) claimed the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:51.90. He then won the 100-yard freestyle by almost two seconds with a time of 48.80 seconds.
Junior
Michael Dierolf (Pennsburg, Pa./Quakertown) captured the 100-yard butterfly by just 0.17 seconds by touching the wall in 55.72 seconds. He was also victorious in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 59.93 seconds to win by just over one second.

Nathan Gdula (Warners, N.Y./West Genesee), senior
Eric Burdge (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) and freshmen
Joe Adamo (Wynantskill, N.Y.) and
Alex Turczyn (Burnt Hills, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) closed out the meet by winning the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:30.39.
The Dolphins complete their regular season road schedule on Friday at Nazareth College at 1:00 p.m.
