MEN’S SOCCER EDGES SAINT ANSELM, 1-0

Syracuse, N.Y. – First-year graduate student forward Goran Naric (Neuwied, Germany/Rhein-Wied-Gymnasium/Hochschule Koblenz) scored early in the first half to give the Le Moyne College men's soccer team a 1-0 win over Saint Anselm College in Northeast-10 Conference action on Wednesday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.

After just one shot in the game over the first 16 minutes, the Dolphins scored the game's only goal in the 17th minute. Off a pass from the left side of the penalty box by junior midfielder Joe Falcone (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius), Naric scored into the right side of the netting from the top of the goal box at the 16:24 mark for his seventh goal of the season.

The Dolphins put three more shots on target over the final 28 minutes of the half, but were unable to add to their lead.

Le Moyne had its only shot on goal of the second half within the first five minutes, but it was saved.

Saint Anselm put two of its four shots in the half on goal, but both were saved.

A cluster of three Hawks had a chance to try to tie the score with 15 seconds remaining, but none of the three were able to get a shot off before a Dolphin cleared the ball out of the penalty box.

Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Josh Mahr (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) recorded two second-half saves en route to his NE10-best third shutout of the season. Jacob Rostkowski turned away four shots in the setback, including three in the first half. The Dolphins registered an 11-5 advantage in shots, including 8-1 in the first half, while posting an 8-2 edge in corner kicks, including 5-0 in the first half.

Le Moyne (8-4-1, 4-3-1 NE10), which moved into a three-way tie for fifth place in the NE10 standings with 13 points, is back in action on Saturday at Saint Michael's College at 12:00 p.m.
