MEN’S SOCCER USES EARLY SECOND-HALF GOAL FOR 1-0 WIN AT SAINT MICHAEL’S

Colchester, Vt. – First-year graduate student midfielder Julian Schwarz (Elversberg, Germany/KBBZ Neunkirchen/Berufsakademie Saarland) scored early in the second half as the Le Moyne College men's soccer team registered a 1-0 victory over Saint Michael's College on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Duffy Field.

In the scoreless first half, Le Moyne registered a 12-9 advantage in shots, including a 4-3 edge in shots on goal.

After the Dolphins had their first shot of the second half saved, they netted the game's only goal in the 49th minute. Off a pass from fellow first-year graduate student Goran Naric (Neuwied, Germany/Rhein-Wied-Gymnasium/Hochschule Koblenz) into the box, Schwarz fired a shot off the right post and into the net at the 48:49 mark for his second goal of the season.

Saint Michael's had a shot hit the post in the 56th minute and then put a shot on target with 3:37 remaining, but it was saved.

Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Josh Mahr (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) registered four saves, including three in the first half, to earn his NE10-best ninth win of the year and NE10-leading fourth shutout of the season. Tommy Coil recorded four of his five saves in the first half in the setback. Le Moyne finished the game with a 17-15 edge in shots, including the aforementioned 12-9 advantage in the first half, while Saint Michael's posted a 5-4 edge in corner kicks, including 4-1 in the second half.
