VOLLEYBALL SNAPS LOSING SKID WITH 3-2 WIN AT FRANKLIN PIERCE

Rindge, N.H. – Freshman outside hitter Madeleine Kennedy (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) landed a career-high 19 kills to lead the Le Moyne College volleyball team to a 3-2 win over Franklin Pierce University in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday afternoon at The Fieldhouse.

Franklin Pierce opened the match with a 25-22 win in the first set. The Dolphins evened the match at one apiece with a 25-16 victory in the second set after jumping out to a 9-2 lead. Le Moyne took a 2-1 lead with a 25-21 win in the third set after scoring the last two points. The Ravens answered back by jumping out to an 18-8 lead en route to a 25-19 victory in the fourth set to tie the match at two. The Dolphins claimed the victory by winning the fifth set, 15-8, after scoring five of the last six points.

Kennedy hit .348 en route to her career-high kill total, which included six kills in the third set and five in each of the second and fourth sets. Sophomore outside hitter Mary Talty (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa), who splits front-row responsibilities with Kennedy, registered 18 kills, including six in the first set and five in the third set, while posting six digs. Senior middle blocker Jacquelyne Ghindia (Mission Viejo, Calif./Santa Margarita) recorded nine kills, seven digs and six blocks. Junior setter Emily Yancone (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) tallied her eighth double-double of the season with a season-high 51 assists and 11 digs, while adding five kills and a career high-tying five service aces. Senior libero Claire Hiwiller (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Sweet Home) led the Dolphins defensively with 23 digs, including seven in the third set. Freshman Lexi Arena (Gilbert, Ariz./Perry) and sophomore Emily Mosack (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) registered 19 and 12 digs, respectively, while each had two assists and a service ace.

Abigail Garnhart and Ingrid Lindstrom each recorded 12 kills to lead the Ravens in the setback, while Garnhart had three digs and Lindstrom posted four blocks. Mary Pease directed the offense with 36 assists, while adding nine digs and six kills. Ellie Ivanova led all players in the match with 27 digs, while adding four assists and three service aces. Tessa Brandt and Jocelyn Moody tallied 18 and 13 digs, respectively, while Brandt recorded six kills.

Le Moyne (11-11, 4-6 NE10), which snapped a five-match losing skid, returns home to host Saint Michael's College on Friday at 5:00 p.m.
