MEN’S TENNIS OPENS SPRING NE10 SLATE WITH SWEEP OF ADELPHI, 7-0

Garden City, N.J. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team completed its sixth 7-0 victory of the season against Adelphi University at the Adelphi Tennis Courts on Saturday.

The Dolphins started the day by winning the first doubles match with a team of sophomore Tom Jarry (Paris, France/CNED Toulouse/Emmanuel) and junior Philip Blythe (Edinburgh, Scotland/Merchiston) defeating Connor Dove and Sabin Adrian Saveluc, 6-1. A pair of seniors, Xavier Graells (Castellar del Vallès, Spain/IES Castellar/Harford Community College) and Tyler Underwood (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) fell to Luke Attride-Stirling and David Robres de Veciana 7-6 (7-5). Le Moyne finished the doubles portion of the match with senior Andres Hernandez (Monterrey, Mexico/Laurel Springs/Texas Rio Grande Valley) and freshman Gerardo Wibmer (Maldonado, Uruguay/Apostille School) winning 6-2 over Ilya Kalabukhau and Finn Krause.

The Dolphins were a perfect 6-0 in the singles competition. Jarry began the stretch by defeating Saveluc, 6-0, 6-1. Blythe was victorious 4-6, 6-0, 6-0 over Attride-Stirling, Hernandez beat Robres de Veciana 6-2, 6-1 and sophomore Christian Erickson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) was victorious in three sets, 6-3, 6-7, 10-3 over Volodymyr Petrushevski. Graells won the fifth singles match 6-2, 6-1 over Dove and graduate student Sven Gopfrich (Erlangen, Germany/Emmy-Noether-Gymnasium Erlangen/Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg) completed the sweep 6-2, 6-1 topping David Leader.

Le Moyne (7-4, 2-0 NE10) is back on the courts Wednesday against Franklin Pierce University at Elevate Fitness in DeWitt, N.Y. at 12:00 p.m.
