SEVENTH-RANKED MEN’S LACROSSE RECORDS WIN OVER AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL

Syracuse, N.Y. – Six Dolphins scored multiple goals as the seventh-ranked Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team cruised to a 21-1 win over American International College on Saturday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.

The Dolphins started the scoring just seven seconds into the contest as junior attackman Matt Hutchings (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) finished off a feed from senior midfielder Dan Entenmann (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn), who then scored his first goal of the year with 13:31 left off a pass from classmate Josh Slowinski (Williamsville, N.Y./Clarence). After junior midfielder Ross Filtch (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus/Siena) scored off a pass from junior midfielder Hans Zimmer (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) with 12:10 left, Hutchings netted his team-best 11th goal of the season with 11:25 remaining. Zimmer then scored off a pass from junior attackman Riley Larson (Fairfield, Conn./Ludlowe), while Entenmann finished off a pass from senior attackman Ryan Cosgrove (Churchville, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) with 8:51 remaining. Filtch scored with 7:57 left before Cosgrove scored 37 seconds later off a feed from Hutchings in an extra-man situation. Freshman attackman Kevin Sheehan (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) completed the scoring in the opening quarter with 6:31 left with his seventh goal of the year off a pass from Cosgrove.

The Dolphins got goals from sophomore midfielder Ben McCreary (Cicero, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy), freshman attackman John Howes (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee), senior midfielder James Felix (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford), freshman midfielder John Bergan (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) and sophomore attackman Evan Kelly (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Aquinas Institute) in the second quarter. Senior midfielder Daniel Lynch (Billerica, Mass./Billerica) earned the assist on the goals by McCreary and Bergan, Kelly fed Howes and freshman attackman Wyatt Martin (Plantation, Fla./Saint John Paul II Academy) sent the pass to Kelly.

Sophomore attackman Jon Pfohl (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna/Stony Brook) scored in an extra-man situation to start the scoring off a pass from Lynch, while Kelly (from Howes) and Lynch followed to give the Dolphins a 17-0 lead.

Quinn Caesar got the Yellow Jackets on the scoreboard with 2:29 left in the third.

McCreary pushed the lead to 18-1 after 45 minutes of playing with his fourth goal of the season with 11 seconds left.

Kelly, freshman Connor Quimby (Schenectady, N.Y./Guilderland) (from Martin) and Felix delivered goals in the fourth quarter.

Junior goalkeeper Riley Smith (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker/Onondaga C.C.) was not forced to make a save in 10:34 between the pipes. Stephen Stratton turned away nine shots fro the Yellow Jackets.

Le Moyne (4-1, 2-0 NE10) continues its homestand on Wednesday against Bentley University at 3:00 p.m.
