Riley Larson (Fairfield, Conn./Ludlowe) recorded four points to lead the third-ranked Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team to a 10-3 win over Saint Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.
The Dolphins opened the game's scoring less than three minutes into the game. After collecting a pass from Larson, junior attackman
Matt Hutchings (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) registered his 22nd goal of the season. Following almost 11 minutes of scoreless play, Hutchings scored again with 1:12 remaining in the first quarter.
Le Moyne extended its lead to 3-0 just over two minutes into the second quarter as sophomore attackman
Devin Andrews (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy/Stony Brook) finished off a feed from Larson.
Jon Lockwood got the Purple Knights on the scoreboard at the 11:47 mark with his 14th goal of the season.
The Dolphins answered with the final three goals of the half. Larson netted his 30th goal of the campaign just 45 seconds after Lockwood scored. Larson followed with his fourth point of the half with another goal with 9:33 remaining off a pass from freshman attackman
Kevin Sheehan (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee). Senior midfielder
Josh Slowinski (Williamsville, N.Y./Clarence) closed out the scoring in the half with his 18th goal of the season at the 5:28 mark after collecting a pass from senior midfielder
Dan Entenmann (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn).
Andrews increased Le Moyne's lead to six with 13:35 remaining with his 20th goal of the season after taking a pass from Entenmann.
Matt McGaffigan got the Purple Knights back within five with his third goal of the year with 3:00 to go in the half.
The Dolphins scored twice in the last two minutes of the third quarter to take a 9-2 lead into the final period. Entenmann netted his career high-tying 15th goal of the season with 1:47 remaining in the quarter. Slowinski completed the scoring in the quarter with his 19th goal of the year with six seconds left.
Lockwood recorded his second goal of the day with 8:36 for Saint Michael's final goal.
Sophomore midfielder
Ben McCreary (Cicero, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) registered his eighth goal of the year with 5:31 to play to end the day's scoring.
Junior goalkeeper
Riley Smith (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker/Onondaga C.C.) registered five saves (against one goal) in the first half to earn his 12th win of the year. Dominic Joy tallied 19 saves, including eight in the fourth quarter, in the loss for the Purple Knights.
Le Moyne (12-2, 9-1 NE10), which honored its 14-member senior class prior to the game, closes out the regular season on Tuesday at Southern New Hampshire University at 3:00 p.m.
