Newark, Del. – The Le Moyne College volleyball team opened play at the Wilmington Wildcat Regional Invitational on Friday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex with a pair of setbacks. The Dolphins fell to the host Wildcats, 3-1, and then were upended by Georgian Court, 3-0.
Wilmington opened the day by taking the first set, 25-14. The Dolphins answered back with a winning score of 25-14 of its own to even the match at one set apiece. The Wildcats regained the lead with a 25-23 win in the third set after holding off a Dolphin rally. Following a 17-17 tie in the fourth set, the Wildcats used a 5-1 run en route to a 25-22 victory to close out the match.

Jacquelyne Ghindia (Mission Viejo, Calif./Santa Margarita) led the Dolphins offensively with 12 kills on a .348 hitting percentage, while adding four blocks. Freshman setter
Margaret King (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) directed the offense with 23 assists and added two service aces, while sophomore
Emily Mosack (Webster, N.Y./Webster-Schroeder) dished out 12 assists. Senior libero
Claire Hiwiller (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Sweet Home) led the team defensively with 20 digs, while sophomore defensive specialist
Meagan Murphy (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) posted 11 digs and sophomore outside hitter
Mary Talty (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) tallied 10 digs to go along with nine kills.
Mandy Behiels led the Wildcats in the victory with a double-double of 10 kills and 12 digs. Dorie Moore also tallied 10 kills in the match, while adding six digs, five service aces and four blocks. Sarah Couch also turned in a double-double with 40 assists and 10 digs. Elly Collins led Wilmington defensively with 17 digs.
Georgian Court opened the match with the Dolphins with a 25-19 win in the first set after putting together a 9-1 run to take control of the set. The Lions used a 9-2 run early in the second set en route to a 25-17 victory and a 2-0 lead in the match. After the Dolphins knotted the third set at 13, Georgian Court scored five straight points and held on for a 25-20 win to close out the match.
Talty was the only Dolphin to record double-digit kills with 11. Splitting the setting duties, King and Mosack recorded 15 and 14 assists, respectively, while Mosack added five digs. Hiwiller led the team defensively again with 15 digs.
Kinsy Haschke led the Lions in the victory with 11 kills and seven digs. Grace Fenn hit .615 in the match en route to nine kills to go along with three blocks. Trilby Kite and Jaime Sweeney directed the offense with 17 and 15 assists, respectively, while Kite posted four digs and three kills and Sweeney had seven digs and two service aces. Emily McCurley led the Lions on the defensive side with 11 digs and chipped in with eight assists.
Le Moyne (4-3) wraps up action at the invitational on Saturday by taking on Holy Family University at 10:00 a.m. and Jefferson at 2:00 p.m.
