WOMEN’S SOCCER EDGED BY PACE, 1-0, IN NE10 OPENER

Pleasantville, N.Y. – Marta Sadornil scored in the final minutes of the first half to lead Pace University to a 1-0 victory over the Le Moyne College women's soccer team in Northeast-10 Conference action on Wednesday evening at Pace Stadium.

Following three shots on goal by the Setters and one by the Dolphins, Pace netted the game's only goal in the 44th minute. Off a pass from 50 yards out by Cecilia Puentes, the reigning United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week and NE10 Player and Rookie of the Week, Sadornil collected the ball on the right side of the penalty box and fired a shot into the left side of the net from 10 yards out at the 43:17 mark for her second goal of the season.

The Dolphins had just two shots in the second half in an attempt to knot the score, but both were wide of the goal.

Senior goalkeeper Shannon Bennison (Albany, N.Y./Guilderland) registered six saves in the loss. Jade Mallea stopped the only shot she faced to earn her sixth win of the season. Pace recorded a 12-3 advantage in shots, including 7-2 in the second half, while taking eight of the game's nine corner kicks.

Le Moyne (1-3, 0-1 NE10), which is winless in its last six games at Pace (0-5-1) is back on the road Saturday at Stonehill College at 11:00 a.m.
