VOLLEYBALL RALLIES TO BEAT KUTZTOWN, 3-2, FALLS TO GEORGIAN COURT

Lakewood, N.J. – Senior middle blocker Jacquelyne Ghindia (Mission Viejo, Calif./Santa Margarita) landed 14 kills to lead the Le Moyne College volleyball team to a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Kutztown University on Friday evening at Georgian Court University's Wellness Center Arena. The Dolphins fell to Georgian Court, 3-0, earlier in the day.

Kutztown opened the match with a 25-13 victory in the first set. After falling behind 20-14 in the second set, the Dolphins answered back with seven straight points and 11 of the last 12 for a 25-21 win to even the match at one apiece. The Bears regained the lead with a 25-17 victory in the third set after using an 8-1 run early in the set to take the lead. Le Moyne stayed alive in the match with a 25-23 win in the fourth set to force the decisive fifth set. The Dolphins completed the come-from-behind win by scoring the first five points en route to a 15-10 victory in the final set.

Ghindia hit .276 in the match on her way to her 14 kills, while adding five blocks and four digs. Sophomore Mary Talty (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) and freshman Madeleine Kennedy (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) each recorded nine kills. Freshman Margaret King (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) and junior Emily Yancone (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) split the setting duties with 23 and 16 assists, respectively, while each posted four digs. Sophomore libero Emily Mosack (Webster, N.Y./Webster-Schroeder) led the Dolphins defensively with 15 digs.

Holly Owen led the Bears in the loss with 22 kills on a .395 hitting percentage, while adding six digs. Britney Hewitt and Erin Patterson each recorded 10 kills and three blocks. Abbey James posted a double-double of 22 assists and a team-high 10 digs, while Lexi Morrow had 16 assists and nine digs.

Georgian Court opened the match with a 25-23 win in the first set. The Lions followed with a 25-20 victory in the second set and closed out the match with a 25-22 win in the third set.

Le Moyne (6-5), which played Kutztown for the first time since the 2010 season opener (a 3-0 win by the Bears), opens Northeast-10 Conference on Saturday, September 28 at Adelphi University at 1:00 p.m.
