VOLLEYBALL RECORDS 3-0 WINS OVER NYACK AND QUEENS

Flushing, N.Y. – Sophomore outside hitter Mary Talty (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) tallied 22 kills and 22 digs to lead the Le Moyne College volleyball team to a pair of 3-0 wins over Nyack College and Queens College on Saturday afternoon at Fitzgerald Gymnasium.

The Dolphins opened the day by posting a 25-17 win in the first set over Nyack after scoring 19 of the last 25 points. Le Moyne doubled its lead with a 25-22 victory in the second set after rallying with an 8-2 run to close out the set. The Dolphins closed out the match with a 25-23 win in the third set.

Talty led the Dolphins in the victory with her second double-double of the season with 13 kills and a career-high 18 digs. Redshirt senior middle blocker Anna Hafoka (Hurst, Texas/L.D. Bell) hit .440 en route to landing 13 kills, while adding four blocks and two service aces. Senior middle blocker Jacquelyne Ghindia (Mission Viejo, Calif./Santa Margarita) was the third Dolphin in double-figure kills with 11 on a .391 hitting percentage. Junior setter Emily Yancone (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) directed the offense with 39 assists, while adding nine digs three block assists. Sophomore libero Emily Mosack (Webster, N.Y./Webster-Schroeder) led the Dolphins defensively with a career-high 21 digs.

Cassady Hymes and Kirby Cuellar led the Warriors in the loss with seven kills each, while Cuellar recorded three digs. Rachel Medin paced the offense with 20 assists to go along with eight digs, three kills and three blocks. British Dawson led the team defensively with 18 digs.

Against the host Knights, the Dolphins took a 1-0 lead in the match with a 25-16 victory in the opening set, which included a 15-4 run. Le Moyne pushed its lead to 2-0 by jumping out to a 19-4 lead in the second set en route to a 25-15 win. The Dolphins used another 25-16 victory in the third set to close out the match.

Talty led a balanced Dolphin attack with nine kills, while adding four digs and three service aces. Yancone paced the offense with 24 assists to go along with seven digs and three kills. Mosack had a team-high 11 digs.

Briana Green led the Knights with nine kills and four blocks. Alisha Matthews dished out 17 assists, while Dee-Ana Mitchell had a team-best nine digs.
 
Le Moyne (3-1), which finished its trip to Long Island 3-1 for the fourth straight year, returns to action on Tuesday at Roberts Wesleyan College at 7:00 p.m.
