MEN'S SOCCER DROPS NON-CONFERENCE MATCH AT MERCYHURST

Erie, P.A. - Midfielder Robert Rohrhirsch (Garching bei München, Germany/Werner-Heisenberg-Gymnasium Garching/Munich University of Applied Sciences) scored his sixth goal of the season off a Joe Falcone (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) assist in the 12th minute, however the Le Moyne College men's soccer fell on the road to non-conference opponent Mercyhurst University by a score of 4-1 at Saxon Stadium on Tuesday afternoon, dropping to 6-4-0 on the season.

Two Le Moyne players were sent off in the second half due to receiving multiple yellow cards. Rohrhirsch earned his second yellow card in the 50th minute, leaving the Dolphins to maintain the 1-1 score with 10 men on the field. The task became even more difficult for Le Moyne when defender Jonas Schmelcher (Berlin, Germany/Schul-und Leistungssportzentrum Berlin/Bridgeport) was sent off after receiving his second yellow card in the 69th minute and the Dolphins had to continue on with nine players on the pitch, compared to Mercyhurst's standard 11.

Following Rohrhirsch's early goal, the Lakers erased the 1-0 deficit in the 40th minute when Sidney Warden calmly put away a penalty kick.

With a two player advantage, Mercyhurst went ahead in the 82nd minute when Salvador Rang scored off a pass from Tom Barry. The Lakers extended their lead to 3-1 in the 85th minute when Sidney Warden converted another penalty kick. Carlos Cueva made it 4-1 Mercyhurst in the 89th minute when he scored off a pass from Julius Becker.

The Le Moyne College men's soccer team returns home for a Northeast-10 Conference matchup against Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday, October 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Ted Grant Field.
