Syracuse, N.Y. – For the first time in more than a decade, Le Moyne College's men's and women's basketball broadcasts will be heard across Central New York on commercial radio. It will mark the first time in school history that all games for both teams will air commercially.
Thanks to a partnership announced by Le Moyne Director of Athletics
Bob Beretta on Tuesday, all 49 Le Moyne regular season men's and women's basketball games, as well as all postseason contests, will be broadcast in the Syracuse area on FOX Sports Radio via the Le Moyne Sports Network.
"I'd like to thank Fox Sports Radio General Manager Sam Furco for his role in making this partnership a reality," said Beretta. "Since the day I accepted this position in January, it has been a priority to return our men's basketball broadcasts to commercial radio. It was equally important to place our full schedule of women's games on commercial radio.
"We are excited that Fox Sports Radio, under Sam's leadership, has agreed to serve as the exclusive home for Le Moyne College basketball broadcasts this season," Beretta added. "The exposure these broadcasts provide will elevate the profile of our basketball programs, our athletic department and our entire College."
The Le Moyne men's basketball team is led by third-year coach
Nate Champion '14, while the Dolphin women's team is headed by first-year head coach
Mary Grimes.
Both teams were poised for NCAA Tournament appearances in their most recent season of competition when the COVID-19 pandemic canceled NCAA Championships competition in March 2020.
"This is very exciting and a great way for more fans to have access to our games!," said Grimes. "To have this opportunity to reach another audience will be invaluable to our women's basketball team and we can't wait to get the season started."
For the 29th consecutive season, Chris Granozio and Don Familo will handle play-by-play and color analysis duties, respectively, on the Le Moyne Sports Network. The duo has teamed to broadcast 800 consecutive Dolphin men's basketball games along with over 100 women's games in the span.
"Having the 'Voice of the Dolphins,' Chris Granozio, and Don Familo back on the radio is such a great addition to the season ahead. It provides a great opportunity to draw attention to our program in our own community as well as those surrounding Le Moyne," said Champion.
"Having Le Moyne basketball broadcast on commercial radio is just another example of what our program and Athletics department as a whole is working to build -- a nationally premier Jesuit institution."
The Le Moyne men begin their 2021-22 campaign with an exhibition game against Syracuse University on November 1 in the Carrier Dome, while Le Moyne's women's team opens play on November 17 with a home date against East Stroudsburg University.
Fox Sports Radio can be found at the following dial positions: 92.5 FM, Syracuse; 1490 AM, Syracuse; 98.5 FM Fulton/Oswego; 1300 AM Fulton/Oswego. Le Moyne Sports Network pre-game shows will air 15 minutes prior to tip-off of each contest and remain on the air throughout the course of all doubleheader dates.
