MEN'S SOCCER EARNS 2-0 NE10 ROAD WIN AT STONEHILL

North Easton, Mass. - The Le Moyne College men's soccer team improved to 9-5-0 overall and 6-4-0 in Northeast-10 Conference matches with a 2-0 win on the road at Stonehill College on Thursday morning. The Dolphins received scoring contributions from defender Patrick Strauss (Lakewood, Ohio/St. Ignatius) and forward Michael Sparkes (Glasgow, Scotland/St. Ninians) to take down the Skyhawks, who drop to 3-6-1 in NE10 competition.

In the 32nd minute of the match, graduate forward Robert Rohrhirsch (Garching bei München, Germany/Werner-Heisenberg-Gymnasium Garching/Munich University of Applied Sciences) took a Le Moyne corner kick from the right flag, sending a cross to the back post where Strauss redirected the ball with his left foot into the back of the net for his second goal of the season to give the Dolphins a 1-0 lead in the first half.

Sparkes scored at the 65:25 mark to double Le Moyne's lead in the second half. The first year forward carried the ball from half field up the left wing into the Skyhawks 18-yard box, and from the left side of the penalty area took a shot that got past the goalkeeper and went into the right side of the net.

Le Moyne goalkeeper Josh Mahr (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) completed his sixth clean sheet of the season.

Le Moyne graduate assistant coach Callum Donnelly '17 had this to say about the team's performance at Skyhawk Field after the match:

"It's always a tough place to come, so we are delighted to come away with the win. We managed the second half really well, and dealt with the tough moments that Stonehill gave us. Happy for the boys but now the focus shifts to Saturday as we have a really tough game against a good New Haven side. We will rest, recover and get the lads prepared for Saturday night."

The Dolphins will be back in action on Saturday, October 30 at 7:00 p.m. when they travel to West Haven, Connecticut to take on the University of New Haven.
