KEVIN CONSTANT NAMED LE MOYNE COLLEGE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK, PRESENTED BY CADIMENSIONS, INC.

Syracuse, N.Y. - Men's basketball guard Kevin Constant (Lawrence, Mass./Central Catholic/Tilton School) has been selected as the Le Moyne College Athlete of the Week, presented by CADimensions, Inc., for the week ending on November 14 due to his performance against Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday night. Constant scored 19 points, including the go-ahead layup in the final seconds of the second half to put the Dolphins up 97-96 and seal the win during their first game of the season. The redshirt-freshman scoring guard was an efficient 7-11 from the field, and a perfect 5-5 from the free throw line. Constant also pulled down six rebounds, ripped three steals and blocked two shots.

Between the 2:17 and 1:17 marks of the second half, Roberts Wesleyan went on an 8-0 run to take a 93-92 lead. With just over one minute remaining in the game and all the momentum with the Redhawks, sophomore point guard Jeremiah Washington (Chicago, Ill./Bogan/Ferris State) brought the ball up the court, attacked his defender, took a step back behind the three-point line and drilled the contested jumper - his first three point attempt of the game - to stop the Redhawks run and put the Dolphins back on top, 95-93.

Roberts Wesleyan guard Amari Lee made a free throw to cut his team's deficit to 95-94, and Ja'Kair Sanchez drew a foul in the paint with eight seconds left in regulation, knocking down both free throws to put the Redhawks up 96-95.

Immediately after the made free throw Le Moyne pushed the ball up the court. Washington dashed into the front court, drove into the teeth of the Roberts Wesleyan defense and kicked it out to Constant on the left wing. Constant put the ball on the floor and attacked the basket to his right, cutting across the lane and finishing a contested layup with one second remaining to once again give Le Moyne the lead.

Coming out of the timeout, the Redhawks inbounded the ball from under their own basket, but were unable to get a shot off and Le Moyne came away with the 97-96 win to start off the 2021-22 season with a 1-0 record.

The Le Moyne College men's basketball team will next take on Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Tuesday, November 16 at 7:00 p.m. EST in Indiana, P.A.
