Syracuse, N.Y. – An overtime-forcing three-pointer by men's basketball third-year sophomore guard
Jeremiah Washington (Chicago, Ill./Bogan/Ferris State) at Florida Southern College on Saturday has been selected as the Le Moyne College Play of the Week, presented by Sodexo.
After Florida Southern took a 77-68 lead with 4:17 remaining in the second half, the Dolphins scored 12 of the next 16 points to close within 81-80 with 30.7 seconds left. Florida Southern pushed its lead back to three with a pair of free throws with 17.6 seconds remaining and then called timeout. Out of the timeout, Washington pushed the ball up the right sideline before cutting towards the paint and sending a pass to the left wing to redshirt freshman guard
Kevin Constant (Lawrence, Mass./Central Catholic/Tilton School). After making a move towards the foul line, Constant flipped the ball back to Washington at the top of the key. He pump-faked a three-pointer to elude a defender and then buried a pull-up three-pointer with 5.4 seconds remaining to even the score at 83 apiece.
The Mocs were able to get a desperation shot off, but Constant blocked it to send the game to overtime.
After the teams split the first eight points of overtime, the Dolphins scored four in a row and eight of the last 10 for the 95-89 victory.
Le Moyne (6-5) returns to the hardwood, and Northeast-10 Conference action, on Saturday, January 1 at 3:30 p.m. at American International College.
