Colchester, V.T. – The Le Moyne College men's soccer team suffered a 2-0 road defeat to Saint Michael's College in NE10 action on Saturday afternoon in Vermont.
The Purple Knights scored both goals in quick succession during the first half. Joel Marquardt put away a rebound goal in the 11
th minute to put Saint Michael's up 1-0, then Alessandro Pescina doubled their lead in the 14
th minute.
Le Moyne's
Michael Lantry (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Syracuse/DePaul) put a header on goal in the 59
th minute, but Saint Michael's goalkeeper Liam Barrett made the stop.
Jack Goodrich (Kelsall, England/King's School Chester) sent the ball into the Saint Michael's penalty area in the 63
rd minute on a corner kick. Lantry got a head on the corner, but his shot was blocked.
Max Van Duin (Noordwijk, Netherlands/Teylingen College Leeuwenhorst/Free University of Amsterdam) was able to hit a follow-up shot, but that was blocked by the Saint Michael's defense also.
Barrett saved a Van Duin shot in the 75
th minute, and the Dolphins were unable to get on the scoreboard during the 90 minutes.
The Le Moyne College men's soccer team will be back in action on Wednesday, October 19 when they battle Adelphi University on Ted Grant Field at 4:00 p.m.
