WOMEN’S SWIMMING AND DIVING PLACES SECOND, MEN THIRD AT HARTWICK RELAYS

Oneonta, N.Y. – Three Dolphins each registered four second-place finishes to lead the Le Moyne College women's swimming and diving team to a second-place finish at the Hartwick College Relays on Sunday at Moyer Pool. The men's team finished in third place.
 
On the women's side, Brandeis University placed first for the second straight year with 140 points. The Dolphins finished second with 98 points for the second consecutive year, while SUNY Oneonta placed third with 80 points.
 
Brandeis also placed first on the men's side for the second straight year with 132 points. The host Hawks tallied 110 points to place second, while the Dolphins were third with 90 points.

"I was proud of our effort today," said head coach Adam Zaczkowski '04. "This meet is non-traditional in the relay-only format. It would have been easy to overlook it as we prepare for our second NE10 dual meet next week at St Michael's, but we didn't. We competed well and had good performances.
 
"Two stand out performers today on the men's side with Logan Bronecki and Colby Randall. On the women's side, Lily Buchholz was two full seconds faster in her 200 free versus the Pace meet last week."

For the women, senior Caitlyn Longway (Sauquoit, N.Y./Sauquoit Valley), redshirt sophomore Grace Thomas (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) and sophomore Brenna Horan (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point/SUNY Geneseo) were each part of four second-place finishes. To open the meet, Thomas and Longway teamed with sophomore Ella Kaback (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) and freshman Brooke Sommo (Guilderland, N.Y./Guilderland) to place second in the 400-yard medley relay in 4:18.15.

Thomas then teamed with classmate MaryLauren Burke (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) and senior Genevieve Kikukawa (Kalaupapa, Hawaii/University Laboratory School) to place second in the 3x100-yard backstroke with a combined time of 3:10.15.

Horan and Sommo combined with sophomore Hannah Kellogg (Cazenovia, N.Y./Chittenango) to place second in the 3x100-yard butterfly with a time of 3:11.93.

Longway, Burke and Horan teamed with redshirt sophomore Lily Buchholz (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) to finish second in the 850-yard crescendo relay in 9:12.70.

Longway, Kikukawa, Burke and Buchholz recorded a time of 1:46.04 to place second in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Horan, senior Madison Zapisek (Syracuse, N.Y. / West Genesee) and Taylor McFadden (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) placed second in the 3x200-yard IM in 7:32.12.

Kikukawa, Kaback, Sommo and Longway tallied a time of 1:56.50 to finish in second place in the 200-yard medley relay.

Buchholz, Kellogg, Zapisek and Thomas finished second in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:59.49.

Thomas, Kaback, Horan and Zapisek closed out the meet by placing second in the 800-yard medley relay in 9:53.78.

On the men's side, the trio of freshmen Xavier Silaika (Rexford, N.Y./Shenendehowa) and Keegan Stafford (Charlton, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and senior Sean McCleary (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) placed second in the 3x100-yard backstroke in 2:57.39.

Senior Charles Morris (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) and redshirt sophomores Ryan McMahon (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) and Logan Bronecki (Hemlock, N.Y./Livonia) finished second in the 3x100-yard breaststroke with a time of 3:11.91.

Morris, Stafford, McMahon and senior Joseph Malone (Merrick, N.Y./Wellington C. Mepham/SUNY Old Westbury) tallied a second-place finish in the 850-yard crescendo relay in 8:17.78.

Morris, Stafford and Bronecki combined with sophomore Belal Aly (Syracuse, N.Y./PSAL at Fowler) to place second in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:28.85.

Aly, Stafford, Bronecki and sophomore Ajay Hicks (Oneida, N.Y./Oneida) registered a time of 3:21.11 to place second in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

The Dolphins are back in the pool on Saturday at Saint Michael's College at 1:00 p.m.
