WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO AIC

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's basketball team suffered their first home defeat of the season on Tuesday evening, falling to the American International Yellow Jackets by a score of 71-59 on Ted Grant Court.

The Dolphins shot 32.4% from the field on Tuesday night, and AIC graduate forward Taylor Tomlinson delivered a tremendous performance for the Yellow Jackets.

Tomlinson tallied 26 points – on 12-16 shooting from the field and 2-2 from the line – 10 rebounds, five blocks, three assists and three steals in 34 minutes of action.

AIC senior guard Kayla Robinson contributed 20 points, four rebounds and three assists in 34 minutes played.

Le Moyne senior guard Lytoya Baker (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds during the loss, while redshirt-sophomore forward Haedyn Roberts (Holland Patent, N.Y./Holland Patent), freshman guard Kaia Goode (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) and freshman guard Sierra Linnin (Valley Cottage, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) each scored in double-figures for the 'Phins.

Roberts scored a team-high 13 points to go along with nine rebounds in 28 minutes played, and Goode tallied 12 points, four assists and two steals while Linnin knocked down three three-point field goals for the third consecutive game and finished the contest with 11 points in 29 minutes off the bench.

Reigning NE10 Rookie of the Week Sydney Lusher (Oneida, N.Y./Oneida) led all players with five assists during the conference battle.

Le Moyne first-year forward Tamiya Turner (Howell, N.J./Howell) played a season-high 13 minutes off the bench for the 'Phins and contributed a season-high four points.

The Dolphins trailed 32-23 at halftime, then made their run during the third quarter.

With under 40 seconds left in the third quarter, Le Moyne broke AIC's full court pressure and Lusher drove to the basket and converted a running left-handed layup over a defender to trim the 'Phins deficit to 44-42.

Jasmine Love grabbed an offensive rebound for AIC and converted the putback during the next possession, and Le Moyne inbounded the ball under their basket with six seconds on the third quarter clock. Goode sent a pass to Lusher, and Lusher threw the ball way up the court for Linnin, who caught the pass on the left wing.

Linnin squared up and let go of a three-pointer that rattled in at the buzzer to make it 46-45 in favor of the Yellow Jackets after three quarters.

Roberts made a nice up-and-under move in the paint to score with 9:18 left in the fourth quarter, giving the Dolphins a 47-46 advantage, their first lead since the first quarter.

Robinson got into the lane at the other end and dropped off a pass for Love, who converted the layup, drew a foul on the shot and made the additional free throw to put AIC back on top, 49-47.

Tomlinson came up with a steal on defense for the Yellow Jackets, then Robinson made a three-pointer at the other end to extend AIC's lead to 52-47.

A Kaia Goode made three-point field goal with 4:16 left in the fourth quarter made it a two-point game, but Tomlinson scored three straight baskets between the 2:29 and 1:46 marks to give the Yellow Jackets a 65-57 advantage.

The Le Moyne College women's basketball team dropped to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in NE10 play following Tuesday's loss.

The Dolphins will be back in action on December 11 when they take on the Assumption University Greyhounds in Worcester at 1:30 p.m.
