Rindge, N.H. – Isaiah Moore scored 22 points to lead Franklin Pierce to an 80-72 victory over the Le Moyne College men's basketball team in Northeast-10 Conference action on Friday evening at the FPU Fieldhouse.
Third-year sophomore forward
Luke Sutherland (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee/Siena/Bryant) led the Dolphins with 18 points, including 16 in the second half, and five rebounds. Redshirt freshman guard
Kevin Constant (Lawrence, Mass./Central Catholic/Tilton School) netted 15 points, including 11 after halftime, to go with four rebounds and three assists. Redshirt freshman guard
Christian Davis (Denver, Colo./Mullen/New Hampton School) registered a double-double of 10 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Third-year sophomore guard
Jeremiah Washington (Chicago, Ill./Bogan/Ferris State) was the fourth Dolphin in double digits with 10 points.
Moore tallied 14 of his game-high point total in the first half, while adding five rebounds. Maxwell Zegarowski posted 18 points, including 15 in the first half, seven rebounds, three assists and a pair of blocks. Mohamed Traore registered 13 points and four assists, while Sean Trumper had 10 points and nine rebounds.
The teams went back and forth over the opening nine minutes of the game with the lead changing sides six times and the score settling at 17-16 in favor of the Ravens after Sutherland made a pair of free throws.
Franklin Pierce scored the next 13 points en route to a 37-11 run over the last 10:13 of the half. Moore led the charge with 10 points, while Zegarowski had nine of the points and Brandon Kolek had eight as the Ravens took a 54-27 lead into halftime.
The Dolphins opened the second half with the first five points and Franklin Pierce followed with four straights as the teams went back and forth over the initial six minutes of the second stanza.
After Moore made a lay-up to give the Ravens a 66-41 lead with 14:09 to play, the Dolphins scored 24 of the next 29 points to cut their deficit to just six with 2:22 left. Sutherland registered half of the points in the stretch, while Davis scored five points in the span, including a conventional three-point play to make it 71-65.
Le Moyne got as close as five with 44 seconds left on a pair of free throws by Constant, but Traore made four free throws and Trumper hit one around two missed shots by the Dolphins to put the game away for the Ravens.
Le Moyne (12-13, NE10 8-10) closes out the regular season on Tuesday at Pace University at 7:30 p.m.
