New Haven C.T. – The Le Moyne College baseball team fell 2-1 in 12 innings on the road against the Owls of Southern Connecticut State on Thursday afternoon.

Jacob Maser (Chittenango, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy (Syracuse)) started the game on the mound for the 'Phins and allowed zero runs and just three hits in 7.0 innings of work.

Drew Carroll (Clifton Park, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy (Albany)) went 2-4 with an RBI during the loss, while Drew Fureno (Canajoharie, N.Y./Fort Plain) went 2-4 with a double.

Tony Zambito and Connor Goggi each recorded an RBI for the Owls.

Le Moyne took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 8th inning. Derrick Miller (Westernville, N.Y./Rome Free Academy/Hudson Valley C.C.) led off the inning with a walk, then Zach Brush (New York Mills, N.Y./Utica Notre Dame) dropped down a sacrifice bunt to move Miller into scoring position.

Carroll stepped to the plate next and hit a line drive that dropped in front of the center fielder to drive in Miller and give the Dolphins a 1-0 advantage.

With one out and the bases loaded in the bottom of the 8th, Connor Goggi drove a sacrifice fly to center field to tie the game at 1-1.

Drew Fureno hit a two out double to left field in the top of the 9th, but a ground ball during the next at-bat ended the inning.

After a leadoff double, an intentional walk and a failed pickoff attempt, SCSU had runners on second and third with zero outs in the bottom of the 9th.

Le Moyne relief pitcher Jed Boyle (Syracuse, N.Y./Corcoran) recorded a strikeout, got a foul ball fly out, then recorded another strikeout to end the inning and keep the game tied.

Matt Tarby (Liverpool, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) got through the 10th inning on the mound for Le Moyne, then struck out the side in the bottom of the 11th.

Le Moyne went down 1-2-3 in the top of the 12th, then Tony Zambito hit a solo homerun over the left field fence in the bottom of the inning to end the game and give the Owls a 2-1 win.

The Le Moyne College baseball team will begin a Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division four-game weekend series against The College of Saint Rose on Saturday. The Dolphins and the Golden Knights will play a doubleheader on Saturday with game one's first pitch scheduled for 12:00 p.m. EST.
