MEN’S AND WOMEN’S OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD TEAMS CLOSE OUT REGULAR SEASON AT ROCHESTER

4/30/2022 8:33:00 PM

Rochester, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's and women's outdoor track and field teams closed out the regular season at the University of Rochester's Alumni Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Edwin Fauver Stadium.

"Our final regular season meet was a peaking tool for some and a last chance to race for others," said head coach Robin Wheeless. "For senior Max Rohrbacher, this was his last college race. It was a race I never thought he would get to run. This past fall, he had what I thought was a career-ending injury. Today wasn't the fastest race he's ever run, but it truly was inspiring."

"We had lots of other good things happening today. Several people set personal records. We also had a few school records. Nick Hafner broke his 110 hurdles record, Dominic Abbott broke his 200-meter record and Kenny Barrett broke Griffin Klein's 800-meter record. Natalie Lavello's 200-meter time was well under the record but the wind was just over the limit. With our conference championship meet next week I think we are ready."

Sophomore Madison Kozyra (Marcy, N.Y./Whitesboro) won the discus throw with a distance of 132-feet, 11-inches.

Freshman Natalie Lavello (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington) placed sixth in the 200-meter dash in 26.29 seconds.

Sophomore Ashley Dobransky (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) finished in ninth place in the javelin throw with a mark of 87-feet, 5-inches.

Freshman Dominic Abbott (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) placed sixth in the 200-meter dash in a program-record time of 22.90 seconds. His time eclipsed his previous record of 22.92 seconds set at Cortland last weekend.

Freshman Brandon Scott (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) finished sixth in the 400-meter dash in 51.61 seconds.

Senior Kenny Barrett (Lagrangeville, N.Y./Lady of Lourdes) tallied a seventh-place finish in the 800-meter dash in a program-record time of 1:56.40. The previous record of 1:56.6 was set by Griffin Klein on April 14, 2018 at SUNY Delhi.

Junior Nicholas Hafner (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) placed seventh in the 110-meter hurdles in a program-record 16.47 seconds. He set the previous record of 16.71 seconds last Saturday at Cortland. He finished ninth in the high jump by clearing the bar at 5-feet, 11.5-inches.

The Dolphins are back on the track for the Northeast-10 Conference Championships on Friday and Saturday at Stonehill College's W.B. Mason Stadium.
