5/4/2022 6:26:00 PM

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College baseball team will play the final four-game conference series of their 2022 regular season at Dick Rockwell Field on Thursday and Friday.

The Dolphins will play two doubleheaders against the visiting Pace University Setters as both sides try to earn a spot in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships. Le Moyne will celebrate Senior Day before the doubleheader on Friday.

The top four teams from each division advance to the postseason. Le Moyne is currently in third place in the Southwest Division standings with an 11-9 NE10 resume, while Pace is currently just outside the playoff picture, sitting in fifth place in the Southwest Division standings with 10 wins and 10 losses against conference opponents.

The Dolphins were in Garden City last weekend for a four-game series against the Adelphi University Panthers. Adelphi won the first three games of the series, including a couple one-run victories, then Le Moyne earned a win during the final game of the series to avoid coming home empty-handed.

During the final game of the series, a 9-6 Le Moyne win, Senior second baseman Drew Carroll (Clifton Park, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy (Albany)), freshman Wyatt Patchett (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva), and sophomore left fielder Jason Boule (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy (Syracuse)) each recorded two runs batted in, while Patchett, junior center field Zach Brush (New York Mills, N.Y./Utica Notre Dame), graduate right fielder Michael Smith (Montebello, N.Y./Suffern), and graduate third baseman Derrick Miller (Westernville, N.Y./Rome Free Academy/Hudson Valley C.C.) each provided three hits during the victory.

Through 20 NE10 battles so far this season, Smith leads the 'Phins with a .391 batting average and he has provided 17 runs batted in. Senior first baseman Ty Syta (Hamburg, N.Y./St. Francis) has contributed a team-high 19 runs batted in during NE10 contests this season.

Smith, Syta, and Brush are each hitting above .300 in conference play. Brush, Le Moyne's leadoff hitter, has tallied 15 runs, 12 RBI, four doubles, three home runs and 14 walks drawn in 20 conference starts.

All four members of Le Moyne's pitching rotation – Max Parker (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius), Jacob Marshall (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker), Joe Vail (Cromwell, Conn./Xavier), and Jacob Maser (Chittenango, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy (Syracuse)) – currently have a winning record in conference play.

Parker, Marshall and Vail have each made five starts against conference opponents so far this spring. Parker is 2-1, Marshall is 3-2, and Vail is 2-1. Through four NE10 starts this season, Maser is a perfect 2-0.

For Pace, both graduate outfielder Luke Jacobi and freshman infielder Nicholas Montagna are hitting above .400 in NE10 play. Jacobi is hitting .438 with a .506 on base percentage and 22 runs batted in through 20 starts against NE10 opponents. Graduate student Mitchell McCabe and senior catcher Andrew Primm are both hitting above .330 in conference play for the Setters. Primm has 15 RBI in NE10 contests this season while McCabe has 17.

First pitch for game one of Thursday's doubleheader is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
