Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's basketball team (12-5, 7-4 NE10) will host the Bentley University Falcons (12-5, 9-2 NE10) for a Northeast-10 Conference matchup on Saturday, January 21 at 1:00 p.m. on Ted Grant Court.
The Bentley and Le Moyne men's teams will take the floor afterwards for an NE10 battle of their own, scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
The Le Moyne women have won seven of their last eight games and are coming off back-to-back NE10 conference victories.
On January 14, Le Moyne took down Southern New Hampshire University (13-3, 9-2 NE10) at home, before hitting the road and claiming another important conference victory at Southern Connecticut State (10-6, 5-5 NE10) on Wednesday.
Senior guard
Lytoya Baker (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) and redshirt-sophomore forward
Haedyn Roberts (Holland Patent, N.Y./Holland Patent) both recorded a double-double for the 'Phins during the win over SNHU, while redshirt-freshman guard
Sydney Lusher (Oneida, N.Y./Oneida) contributed a game-high 18 points (on 7-11 shooting from the field, including 3-6 from three-point land) along with six rebounds, four assists and four steals against the Penmen.
First-year guard
Sierra Linnin (Valley Cottage, N.Y./Albertus Magnus), who previously recorded a season-high 15 points on 5-9 shooting from the field, including 3-7 from long range, during Le Moyne's home win over Saint Michael's on January 4, set a Le Moyne record for most three-point field goals made in a single game by a freshman on Wednesday at Southern Connecticut State, knocking down six triples on nine attempts and finishing the contest with a game-high and a new season-high 22 points on 7-12 shooting from the field. The rookie sharpshooter is knocking down 2.3 three-point field goals per conference game so far this season. The only players in the NE10 currently making more threes per league game than Linnin are SNHU senior Adriana Timberlake and SCSU graduate guard Zoë Amalbert.
Roberts also had a strong outing against the Owls on Wednesday, contributing 21 points – which was four points away from tying her career high – on 9-14 shooting from the field to go along with eight boards.
Baker leads the NE10 in rebounding at 11.5 boards per game, and has tallied an NE10-leading 11 double-doubles through 17 contests this season (Baker's 11 total double-doubles is tied for the seventh most in all of Division II).
Goode, Baker and Lusher are each top five in the league in steals per conference game. Goode and Baker are averaging a league-best 2.5 steals per NE10 battle, while Lusher is recording 2.1 steals during conference games, which is the fourth highest average in the league.
Baker and Lusher are both averaging more than 3.0 assists per game, while Goode is contributing 2.9 assists per contest.
Goode, Lusher, Baker and Roberts are each averaging at least 10.0 points per game so far this season. Roberts leads the Dolphins in scoring at 13.2 points per contest, Baker is providing 12.9 points on average, while Lusher is at 11.5 and Goode at 10.0. All four players scored in double figures during both of the team's last two conference wins.
During 11 conference games this season, the Dolphins are pulling down 14.2 offensive rebounds per game, which is the second highest total in the league.
The Falcons are knocking down an NE10-best 39.2% of their three-point field goals during conference games this season. Overall, Bentley is shooting 41.0% from the field against conference competition, which is second best in the league behind New Haven (43.4%).
The Falcons of Bentley University were on a six-game winning streak before suffering a 51-49 home defeat against New Haven on Wednesday. Graduate guard Kari Brekke is averaging 10.2 points for the Falcons while shooting 45.7% from three-point range on 4.8 attempts per contest. Brekke delivered a notable performance during her team's win against Franklin Pierce earlier this month, tallying a season-high 20 points on 7-11 shooting from the field, including 6-8 from beyond the three-point line.
Junior guard/forward Maggie Whitmore is averaging a team-high 11.2 points per game with shooting percentages of 44.6% from the field, 50.0% from three, and 92.3% from the free-throw line. Whitmore and senior guard Ella Thompson are each averaging a team-high 2.5 assists per game, and Whitmore is averaging a team-best 6.8 rebounds per contest. Thompson is playing a team-high 29.3 minutes per game and contributing 9.8 points per contest.
No Bentley player averages more than 30.0 minutes played per game, while 11 different Falcons are seeing over 10.0 minutes of action per contest.
Freshman forward Ciara Norman earned NE10 Rookie of the Week honors after tallying 16 points, nine rebounds and four steals during Bentley's impressive 76-48 win over Assumption.
Bentley received votes in the most recent D2SIDA Women's Basketball National Poll as well as the WBCA National Top 25 Coaches Poll. The Falcons are ranked third in the East Region, while Le Moyne is currently ranked sixth in the region.
Bentley and Le Moyne are tied for second in the NE10 in assists per conference game, with both teams recording 13.7 helpers per NE10 battle.
The Falcons are one of just two teams in the NE10 currently averaging more assists than turnovers during conference games (the other being Southern Connecticut State).
Bentley is turning the ball over 13.4 times per game on average in league contests, while the Dolphins are forcing an NE10-best 17.7 turnovers per conference game.
The two teams matched up in the Semifinals of the 2022 Northeast-10 Conference Championships, with the Falcons claiming a 57-47 win over the 'Phins before defeating Stonehill in the tournament final.
Le Moyne beat Bentley 53-50 in Waltham during the 2021-22 regular season.
Both programs earned a trip to the NCAA Championships last season.
The two programs also matched up during the 2020 NE10 Conference Championships, with Le Moyne besting the Falcons 54-51 in the first round behind McKayla Roberts' game-high 24 points.
