Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team is scheduled to open its season on Sunday, February 19, as the team's schedule was released on Thursday afternoon.
The 14-game schedule will feature six home contests, six true road games and a pair of neutral-site matchups, including 10 games against Northeast-10 Conference foes and four against non-conference opponents. The slate features six teams in the USA Lacrosse magazine preseason Top 20 rankings, including two of the top five to book end the campaign.
The Dolphins, who advanced to the NCAA semifinals for the 16th time in the last 20 seasons in 2022, kick off the season on Sunday, February 19 at Ted Grant Field against national runner-up Mercy College. Mercy finished the 2022 season 16-2 after falling to Tampa in the NCAA championship game and enters 2023 ranked second in the USA Lacrosse rankings.
The Dolphins close out February with a neutral-site contest against Catawba College at Homewood Field on the campus of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland on Saturday the 25th.
The 'Phins open March with a pair of contests away from home. They open the month with another neutral-site matchup, taking on the University of Indianapolis in the greater Cleveland (Ohio) region on Saturday the 4th. The Greyhounds went 14-4 in 2022 and are eighth in the USA Lacrosse magazine rankings after being upended in the NCAA first round. The Dolphins then head to Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester on Wednesday the 8th to wrap up non-conference play.
Le Moyne begins Northeast-10 Conference play on March 18 against Saint Anselm College, which fell to the Dolphins in the NE10 semifinals and NCAA first round last year and is ranked 10th in the USA Lacrosse rankings.
The Dolphins play their next two games on the road to close out March. They take on Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday, March 25 in their first trip to Manchester since 2019. Just three days later, the 'Phins visit Pace University, which is 11th in the USA Lacrosse rankings, looking to extend their 26-game win streak over the Setters.
The Dolphins return home to open April, hosting Saint Michael's College on Saturday, April 1. The following Saturday, the Dolphins head to Assumption University for their second consecutive doubleheader with the women's team. The 'Phins are back at Ted Grant Field on Tuesday the 11th to face Bentley University for the 27th consecutive campaign, the program's longest active streak.
The 'Phins head to American International College on Saturday, April 15 for their penultimate road game of the season.
The Dolphins will conclude their home schedule by hosting The College on Saint Rose on Wednesday the 19th and Franklin Pierce University on Saturday the 22nd.
The team's regular season finale is at Adelphi University, which is fifth in the USA Lacrosse rankings, on Tuesday the 25th.
The Northeast-10 Conference Championship will feature a six-team field with all contests being hosted by the higher seeded squad. The first round is scheduled for April 29, while the semifinals take place on May 3 and the championship game is slated for May 6.
