VOLLEYBALL SECURES FIRST DIVISION I WIN AGAINST STONEHILL

Loretto, Pa.  – The Le Moyne College volleyball team took on Stonehill College at DeGol Arena on Friday afternoon taking home their first division 1 win of the season. The Dolphins won the match 3-0, with set scores of 25-22, 25-23, and 25-23.

"Kudos to the team!", said head coach Susan Kim. "Their relentless pursuit to get better paid off. We made some changes in today's match and they worked together as one unit. It wasn't perfect and we still have work to do but  I am proud of the fight we still have left in us. Today, we celebrate the win but tomorrow is another day, another match, and another team."
 
For the Dolphins, sophomore middle hitter Kayla Anstett (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton) registered 17 kills, junior outside hitter Emily La Ruffa (Rock Hill, N.Y. / Monticello) had 12 kills, and freshman opposite/outside hitter Branwyn Lupton (Napanee, Ontario / Napanee District Secondary School) had 10 kills. Sophomore setter Haley Gerken (Buffalo, N.Y. / Frontier) guided the offense had 39 assists, and senior outside hitter Madison Dembroski (Plattekill, N.Y. / Wallkill) had two assists. Dembroski also had 15 digs, freshman libero/DS Haley Buescher (Toledo, Ohio / St. Ursula Academy) had nine digs, and Gerken had six digs.
 
For the Skyhawks, Lauren MacKellar registered nine kills, and Mia Berardino and Abby Farrell had five kills. Maddie Schamaun had 16 assists, Amaya Parnell had nine assists, and Kristen DeLorenzo had five assists. DeLorenzo also had 10 digs, Parnell had seven digs, and Berardino had five digs.
 
The Dolphins next match will be Saturday, October 21th, at 3:00pm against Merrimack College hosted at a neutral site at Saint Francis University - Loretto, Pa.
