LUKE SUTHERLAND NAMED NEC MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Bridgewater, N.J. – Le Moyne College graduate student forward Luke Sutherland (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee/Siena/Bryant) has been named the Northeast Conference men's basketball Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Sutherland, honored as a conference player of the week for the first time in his career, led the Dolphins in Saturday's 80-54 victory over Dartmouth College with 24 points, 13 of which came in the first half, while adding four rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block. He shot 10-of-15 from the field, including 4-of-8 from three-point range. His 11 second-half points came in a 12-0 Le Moyne run, which expanded the Dolphins' lead from three to 15 points. He has scored in double figures in each of the last five halves.

Sutherland's 59 points over the last two games and his 76 points over the last three games are the most by a Dolphin since Naté Gause had 62 in the first two and 82 in the first three games of the 2014-15 season.

Through 11 games, he leads the team in scoring average (16.6), field goals made (62), field goal percentage (.504), three-pointers made (28), three-point percentage (.452), free throws made (31) and free three percentage (.912). He leads the Northeast Conference in free throw percentage and ranks second in three-pointers made and three-pointers per game (2.6), third in scoring average and field goals made, fourth in three-point percentage, fifth in free throws made and ninth in field goal percentage.

Le Moyne (4-7) closes out its home non-conference schedule on Monday night against Houghton University at 7:00 p.m.
