MEN’S TENNIS RECORDS 6-1 “SENIOR DAY” WIN OVER FRANKLIN PIERCE IN NE10 OPENER

DeWitt, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team opened Northeast-10 Conference play with a 6-1 victory over Franklin Pierce University on Wednesday afternoon at Elevate Fitness.

The Dolphins took the lead in the match by sweeping the doubles competition. Graduate student Tom Jarry (Paris, France/CNED Toulouse/Emmanuel) and senior Ethan Miller (Swindon, England/Cirencetser Kingshill School) were victorious at the first position over Preston Gordon and Joshua Arnold, 6-2. Senior Kacper Piekarek (Wroclaw, Poland/Autorskrie Licea Artystyczne Akademickie/Missouri-Kansas City) and graduate student Fabian Sjokvist (Helsingborg, Sweden/Campeon Frigymnasium/Lincoln Memorial) clinched the point with a 6-4 win at the third spot over Nkrumah Patrick and Orlando Guerrero. Sophomore Peter Hatton (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt/Club Med Academics/Army West Point) and graduate student Manuel Righi (Bologna, Italy/IPC Manfredi - ITC Tanari/Concordia (N.Y.)/Universita di Bologna) completed the sweep by edging Alejandro Ortiz and Paul McLellan at the second position, 7-6 (10-8).

Le Moyne captured five of the six matches in the singles competition to clinch its 18th straight conference victory dating back to April 2019. At the first position, Jarry was a 6-2, 6-4 winner over Gordon to tie Philip Blythe '21 for the program record for career singles victories with his 49th. Righi moved to 8-0 in dual matches this year with a 7-5, 6-1 win at the second spot over Patrick. Miller remained unbeaten in his career in NE10 action (9-0) with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Ortiz at the third position. Graduate student Alberto Diaz (Tenerife, Spain/Benito Pérez Armas/Nebraska-Kearney/Midwestern State) earned his second win as a Dolphin, 7-6 (15-13), 6-0, over Guerrero at the fourth spot. Senior Erik Adler (Lima, Peru/Santa Maria College) improved to 5-0 in his career in NE10 play by downing Ethan Hall at the sixth position, 6-4, 7-5. Arnold earned Franklin Pierce's point with back-to-back scores of 6-3 over senior Felipe Cruz (San Jose, Costa Rica/Blue Valley School/Saint Louis) at the fifth spot.
 
Le Moyne (7-1, 1-0 NE10), which honored eight seniors and graduate students prior to the match for their contributions to the program, wraps up its three-match homestand on Saturday against Assumption University at 6:00 p.m.
