MEN’S TENNIS RALLIES FOR 4-2 VICTORY OVER MORGAN STATE

Baltimore, Md. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team rallied during singles play to defeat Morgan State University, 4-2, on Saturday evening at Coppermine Bare Hills.

Morgan State (1-4) claimed the point in the doubles competition by sweeping the three matches. At the first spot, Sebastian Lopez and Makkijha Brown registered a 6-4 win over graduate student Tom Jarry (Paris, France/CNED Toulouse/Emmanuel) and senior Ethan Miller (Swindon, England/Cirencetser Kingshill School). Rhajzon Rankins and Niles Rachal posted a 7-5 score to defeat sophomore Peter Hatton (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt/Club Med Academics/Army West Point) and graduate student Manuel Righi (Bologna, Italy/IPC Manfredi - ITC Tanari/Concordia (N.Y.)/Universita di Bologna) at the second position. Mikeal Carpenter and Bertin Karenzi completed the sweep with a 6-4 win over senior Kacper Piekarek (Wroclaw, Poland/Autorskrie Licea Artystyczne Akademickie/Missouri-Kansas City) and graduate student Fabian Sjokvist (Helsingborg, Sweden/Campeon Frigymnasium/Lincoln Memorial).
 
Le Moyne won four of the five matches to be completed in the singles competition to earn the victory. Hatton picked up his fourth dual match of the season by rallying to defeat Carpenter at the first position, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. Jarry registered his 48th career victory, 6-1, 6-2, over Lopez at the second spot. Righi moved to 6-0 in dual matches with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Rankins at the third position. Miller clinched the match for the Dolphins with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at the fifth spot over Karenzi. Rachal tallied Morgan State's second point with back-to-back scores of 6-1 against Piekarek at the fourth position. Senior Rodrigo Beires (Porto, Portugal/Agrupamento de Escolas Garcia de Orta/Universidade Portucalense) was leading Brown 2-1 in the first set at the sixth spot when the match was decided.
 
Le Moyne (5-1), which won after dropping the doubles point for the first time since a 4-3 win over Daemen on October 10, 2021, is back in action against the Wildcats on Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Elevate Fitness in DeWitt.
