Mansfield, Mass. – Eleven Le Moyne College student-athletes have been named to the Northeast-10 Conference Spring 2023 Academic All-Conference teams for their respective sports, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon.
Le Moyne's 11 selections came from seven teams, which ranked tied for third in the conference.
Sam DiGeorge (Canastota, N.Y./Canastota) of the baseball team,
Tyler Birdd (Elma, N.Y./Iroquois) of the men's golf team,
John Galimi (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) and
Nick Noel (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) of the men's lacrosse team,
Jessica Meneilly (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) and
Adrianna Nojaim (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) of the women's lacrosse team,
Francesca Lilliegren (Guayaquil, Ecuador/Colegio Alemán Humboldt Guayaquil) of the women's tennis team,
Christian Carlin-Saracene (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse),
Nicholas Hafner (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) and
Brandon Scott (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) of the men's track team and
Maggie Casey (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) of the women's track team were honored for their accomplishments in the classroom and in competition.
DiGeorge, a senior pitcher, receives NE10 Academic All-Conference accolades for the first time in his career. A risk management and insurance major with a 3.562 grade point average, he earned ABCA/Rawlings East Region Second Team and NE10 All-Conference Second Team honors for the first time in his career. A College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection, he went 7-1 with one save and a 1.52 earned run average and 40 strikeouts over 65.1 innings pitched. He led the East Region and was fifth nationally in earned run average. He also led the East Region in WHIP (walks plus hits per inning pitched) and ranked tied for ninth in the East Region in victories. He ranked 10th in the East Region in hits allowed per nine innings (7.44).
Birdd, a junior, earns NE10 All-Academic Team honors for the second straight year. A biochemistry major with a 3.851 GPA, he was named the NE10 Player of the Year and to the NE10 All-Conference First Team after registering a career-best scoring average of 74.2 over a program-record 31 rounds over 12 events. A GCAA/PING All-Region selection for the third consecutive year, he finished par or better in eight rounds and placed in the top-ten at five events, including a pair of top-three finishes. He placed first at the NE10 Championship to earn All-Championship Team honors with a career-best score of two-under par 214. He placed third in a field of 108 at the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional with an even-par 216 to earn a berth at the NCAA Championships, becoming the first Dolphin to earn an individual berth.
Galimi, a graduate student short-stick defensive midfielder, collects NE10 Academic All-Conference accolades for the second consecutive year. An accounting major with a 3.519 undergraduate GPA and an MBA candidate with a 3.355 GPA, he earned his third consecutive all-conference recognition with a spot on the first team for the second straight year. A back-to-back USILA All-America and North Region Second Team selection, he led the nation's second-ranked defense by recording career highs with 18 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers as a starter in all 18 games played. He had five games with multiple ground balls.
Noel, a senior long-stick midfielder, receives NE10 Academic All-Conference recognition for the first time in his career. A management and leadership and marketing double major with a 3.525 GPA and an MBA candidate with a 4.0 GPA, he earned the first USILA All-America honors of his career after picking up his first career all-region and all-conference recognition with a spot on the second team of each. A starter in all 18 games played, he led the nation's second-ranked defense with 49 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers, both of which are career highs. He ranked second in the NE10 amongst non-faceoff specialists in ground balls. He had 15 games with multiple ground balls, including three games with at least four, and a trio of games with at least two caused turnovers, including a career-high four in the NCAA semifinals.
Meneilly, a graduate student attacker, earns NE10 All-Academic Team honors for the third time in her three years of eligibility after the awards were not selected in 2020. A psychology major with a 3.804 undergraduate GPA and a Master of Science in Education candidate with a 3.934 GPA, she earned her second consecutive IWLCA All-America Third Team honors after picking up her third straight NE10 All-Conference honors by being named to the first team for the second consecutive year. An IWLCA East Region First Team member for the second straight season, she registered a career-high 78 points on a career-best 74 goals and four assists to go with 23 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers as a starter in all 21 games. A College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection, she ranked second in the NE10 in goals scored and was 11th in points. She was one of just five players in the conference with 60+ points, 20+ ground balls and 15+ caused turnovers. She posted at least three points in 16 games, including nine games with at least five points. She tallied at least four goals in 11 contests, including a season-high six goals against Southern Connecticut State on April 26. Her 74 goals are the fourth-most in a season in the program's history.
Nojaim, a graduate student midfielder, earns NE10 All-Academic Team honors for the second time in her career after also being recognized in 2021. A finance and analytics major with a 3.761 undergraduate GPA and an MBA candidate with a 3.967 GPA, she NE10 All-Conference Second Team honors for the second time in her career (2021). She registered 24 points on 17 goals and seven assists as a starter in all 20 games played, while adding a career-best 54 draw controls, 21 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers. She recorded multiple points in six games, including four points in a win at Mercyhurst on March 11. She had 10 games with at least three draw controls, four games with multiple ground balls and four games with multiple caused turnovers.
Lilliegren, a senior, picks up NE10 Academic All-Conference accolades for the second straight year. A marketing and analytics major with a 3.855 undergraduate GPA and an MBA candidate with a 4.00 GPA, she was named to the NE10 All-Conference Second Team at the fifth singles spot for her third career all-conference honors. She went 7-6 in singles action and 7-9 in doubles play. She posted a 5-2 record in singles and 4-4 in doubles in NE10 action.
Carlin-Saracene, a senior, earns NE10 Academic All-Conference honors for the first time in his career for the outdoor season and for the third time in his career overall. A biology major with a 3.854 GPA, he placed eighth in the 800-meter run at the NE10 Championships, including setting the program record in the prelims, and was part of the fifth-place 4x400-meter relay and the sixth-place 4x800-meter relay. He finished in the top-11 in two individual events during the regular season and was part of two top-10 relay teams.
Hafner, a senior, garners NE10 Academic All-Conference accolades for the third consecutive year for the outdoor season and for the fifth time in his career overall. A biology major with a 3.085 GPA, he placed sixth in the decathlon with 4996 points at the NE10 Championships after placing in the top-six in seven of the 10 events. He recorded four individual top-11 finishes during the regular season, including placing fifth in the decathlon at Cortland on April 22.
Scott, a sophomore, receives NE10 Academic All-Conference recognition in his first year of eligibility. A marketing and analytics major with a 3.913 GPA, he placed 17th in the 200-meter dash at the NE10 Championships with a program-record time and was part of the fifth-place 4x400-meter relay and the sixth-place 4x100-meter relay. He finished in the top-10 in five individual events during the regular season and was part of two top-five relay teams.
Casey, a senior, collects NE10 Academic All-Conference honors for the first time in her career for the outdoor season and for the second time in his career overall. A psychology major with a 3.871 GPA, she scored in a pair of events at the NE10 Championships. She broke a personal record with a time of 40:07.35 in the 10000-meter run to place fifth and placed seventh in the 5000-meter run with a time of 19:11.97. She finished in the top-seven in two individual events during the regular season.
