Syracuse, N.Y. – While Le Moyne College's student-athletes continued their impressive run of athletic success with six teams earning NCAA Championship berths this past semester, the Dolphins closed out their term in Division II by excelling in the classroom as well.

Continuing a decades-long run of Academic excellence, Le Moyne's student-athletes combined to record a term grade-point average of 3.315 this spring, marking the 40th consecutive semester (a two-decade span) that Le Moyne student-athletes have maintained an overall grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

In all, 20 of the department's 21 teams recorded at least a 3.0 GPA for the semester, with the lone team missing the mark by .025 of a percentage point (2.975). Additionally, all 21 teams boasted a cumulative GPA of 3.263.

"We stress the importance of excelling athletically, academically and socially within our intercollegiate athletic department," said Bob Beretta, Le Moyne's Director of Athletics and Recreation. "That's one of the main tenets of our Le Moyne Way culture. Achieving comprehensive excellence remains a big part of our mission here on 'the Heights.'

"It's clear that our Student-Athletes have committed fully to that mantra. Our Dolphins continue to prove they are true scholar-athletes in every sense and continue to represent Le Moyne College with great character and integrity in their competitive arenas and in the classroom. We believe our graduates are uniquely prepared to become leaders in all sectors of society."

Most impressively, 74.6 percent, or 238 of 319 Student-Athletes, registered a GPA of least 3.0 GPA during the spring semester, with 153 achieving a 3.5 GPA or higher (47.9 percent). A whopping 38 Le Moyne Student-Athletes registered a perfect 4.0 GPA during the spring.

On the Northeast-10 Conference Academic Honor Roll released on Friday, Le Moyne ranked fourth among the 13-member conference in percentage with their mark of 74.6 percent. This marked the 13th semester in the last 14 above 70-percent for the Dolphins. Le Moyne also had the fourth-highest percentage of student-athletes earn at least Academic Distinction designation (3.50 and above) at the aforementioned 47.9-percent.

The Northeast-10 Academic Honor Roll recognizes the conference's student-athletes for their achievements within the classroom. To be eligible for selection, a student-athlete must have met and or exceeded a minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for the Spring semester.
