Syracuse, N.Y. – Women's soccer senior midfielder
Jenicah Brown (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland/Cazenovia) has been named the Le Moyne College Athlete of the Week, presented by CADimensions, Inc., after providing a goal and an assist during the Dolphins' 3-2 comeback victory over Niagara on Sunday.
After falling behind 0-2 on the road against the Purple Eagles, Le Moyne received a free kick at the edge of their attacking third in the 40
th minute. Sophomore defender
Jasmina Barhoumi (Worms, Germany/Nelly-Sachs-IGS/D'Youville) sent a long pass into the box, and Brown knocked a rebound opportunity into the back of the net to record Le Moyne's first goal of the 2023 campaign and trim the team's deficit in half.
With under 30 seconds remaining in the first half, Brown received the ball on the right wing and drove a cross in the air to the far post, where junior forward
Autumn Edwards (Greece, N.Y./Hilton/Monroe) knocked the ball out of the air with her right foot past the Niagara goalkeeper and into the net to tie the game at 2-2.
The Dolphins scored the go-ahead goal with less than two minutes remaining in the second half to record a 3-2 win, the program's first victory at the Division I level.
The Le Moyne women's soccer team will return to action on Thursday with a game at Binghamton University.
