Syracuse, N.Y. – Le Moyne College junior
Jack Cannon (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) of the baseball team has been selected as the Le Moyne Athlete of the Week, presented by King + King Architects.
Cannon collects the honor after slashing .600/.667/.867 with nine hits, including one double and one home run, seven RBI, five runs scored and 10 stolen bases in Le Moyne's 2-2 week. He opened the week by going 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, four RBI, one run scored and a stolen base in a 17-6 loss at Binghamton on Tuesday. In the series-opening 11-1 win over Coppin State on Saturday, he was 2-for-2 with two walks, two RBI, one run scored and four stolen bases. He then went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and three stolen bases in a 16-9 loss to the Eagles in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader. He closed out the series by going 2-for-5 with one RBI, one run scored and two stolen bases in a 10-6 victory.
Through 22 games, he is slashing .461/.505/.618 with nine doubles, one triple, one home run, 31 RBI, 23 runs scored and 24 stolen bases. He leads the NEC in average, hits (41) and stolen bases and is third in RBI, fourth in doubles and total bases (55), ninth in slugging percentage, on-base percentage and OPS (1.123) and 13th in runs scored
The Dolphins will return to action on Thursday at LIU at 3:00 p.m. at the LIU Baseball Stadium in Brookville, N.Y.
