Jersey City, N.J. – The Le Moyne College men's soccer team recorded a 1-1 draw on the road against Saint Peter's University on Thursday in non-conference action.

Callum Donnelly '17, M '21. "I am happy to see the fight in this team all the way down to the last minutes of the match. We have areas we need to improve on, but it's a good step in the right direction and we look forward to another difficult road match on Tuesday vs Lafayette," Donnelly added.

Matthew Gera (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) made three of his game total five saves during the first 30 minutes of the match, but the Saint Peter's Peacocks broke the 0-0 tie in the 36
th minute when graduate midfielder Fabian Schmid curled a free kick with his right foot into the upper right corner of the net.
The Dolphins outshot the Peacocks 9-4 during the second half. Le Moyne also took four corner kicks during the final 45 minutes compared to two for Saint Peter's.

Jack Goodrich (Kelsall, England/King's School Chester) sent a pass into the box for redshirt-junior forward
Noah Sperduto (Elmira, N.Y./Elmira) who cut back to his left and ripped a shot towards the bottom left corner of the net that was saved by Saint Peter's senior goalkeeper Pedro Alves.
A red card in the 82nd minute forced the Dolphins to play with 10 men for the final 8:50 of the match.
A minute and a half later, graduate midfielder
Luca Nicastro (Ottawa, Ontario/Nepean/St. Bonaventure) drew a foul on the left wing near the endline.
Nicastro took the free kick himself and drove a hard, low shot with his right foot that skipped past the Saint Peter's goalkeeper at the near post and into the back of the net to tie the score at 1-1 and record the Dolphins' first goal of the 2023 campaign.
Nicastro, who played 80 minutes during his Le Moyne debut at Penn State on Sunday, registered his first points as a Dolphin with the goal.
Neither team recorded a shot in the final 6:30, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
The Dolphins (0-1-1) will play next on September 5 when they travel to Lafayette College to battle the Leopards.
