SOFTBALL RELEASES INAUGURAL DIVISION I SCHEDULE

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College softball team will play its first game at the Division I level on Friday, February 16, as the team's full schedule was announced on Wednesday afternoon.

"Stepping into the NCAA DI arena is a challenge our team has fully embraced from the moment it was announced last May," said head coach Tracey Roman. "We are grateful to be a part of this historical moment for Le Moyne College and I'm confident we'll leave a mark on the field that speaks to the resilience and spirit of our team in our inaugural season at this elite level. We can't wait to compete!"
 
The Dolphins open the season at the Winthrop Eagle Classic in Rock Hill, S.C. from Friday, February 16 through Sunday the 18th. Their first game on Friday afternoon is against Appalachian State University, which went 23-28 a year ago. The Dolphins then face the host Eagles, who went 26-24 last year. On Saturday morning, they take on the University of South Carolina Upstate, which went 38-17 last season and earned the third seed in the Big South Championship. In the afternoon, they face Monmouth University, which is coming off a 10-34 season. The Dolphins wrap up the event on Sunday morning against Binghamton University, which went 29-18 in 2023 and earned the second seed in the America East Tournament.

The 'Phins then head to Madeira Beach, Florida for THE Spring Games Thursday the 22nd through Saturday the 24th. They open with a doubleheader on Thursday against Siena College, which went 32-21 last year and earned the fifth seed in the MAAC Championship. In their first game on Friday, they face Brown University, which went 13-26 a year ago. They close the day against St. Bonaventure University, which posted a 12-35-1 record last season. In the first contest of the day on Saturday, they take on Butler University, which is coming off an 18-35 campaign and earned the fourth seed in the BIG EAST Tournament. They close the trip South against Middle Tennessee State, which was 42-20 last year after winning the Conference USA Championship and advancing to the championship of the Tuscaloosa Regional.

Two weeks later, the Dolphins head to the Norfolk State Invitational for four games over March 9-11. They open Saturday morning against UNLV, which recorded a 23-27 mark last year. In the afternoon, they take on Youngstown State University, which finished 27-27 last season after advancing to the Horizon League Championship semifinals as the sixth seed. On Sunday, they take on the host Spartans, who are coming off a 24-23 season and earned the second seed in the MEAC Tournament. The Dolphins conclude play at the invitational on Monday against Syracuse University, which went 24-26-1 a year ago and earned the ninth seed in the ACC Tournament.

The Dolphins head from Norfolk to Dover, Delaware to play a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 12 against Delaware State University, which went 8-31 last year. The following day, they head to Easton, Pennsylvania for a doubleheader at Lafayette College, which is coming off an 8-36-1 campaign.

The Dolphins open Northeast Conference action with a three-game, two-day series March 16 and 17 at Saint Francis University. The Red Flash are the defending regular season champion after going 15-6 in league play, while they finished the year with a 26-23 overall record after going 1-2 in the NEC Championship.

The following weekend, the Dolphins head to North Andover, Massachusetts to rekindle their rivalry with Merrimack College. The Warriors are coming off an 18-30 season after advancing to the NEC title game as the fourth seed following an 11-10 regular season. The Warriors hold a 26-20 advantage over the Dolphins dating back to their 26 years together in the Northeast-10 Conference, including 15-4 in North Andover.

The Dolphins open their home slate of games and kick off an eight-game homestand with a doubleheader against Binghamton University on Tuesday, March 26.

The 'Phins play their first home NEC series on Friday the 29th and Saturday the 30th against Central Connecticut State University, which went 21-16 last year and earned the third seed in the NEC Championship after going 14-7 in league play.

The team completes its homestand with a Tuesday/Wednesday series against FDU. The Knights were 24-27 a season ago, including 10-11 in league action to place fifth.

The Dolphins head to Cornell University, which went 16-26 last year, on Wednesday, April 10 before playing their final 10 home games of the season.

They begin the season-closing homestand against Stonehill College on April 13 and 14. The Skyhawks went 4-42 last year in their first season at the Division I level, including 2-19 in NEC play. The Dolphins went 28-9-1 against the Skyhawks in Northeast-10 Conference play during their 26 years together in the league, including 14-0 at home.

On April 16, Colgate University comes to the Niland Athletic Complex for a doubleheader, while Saint Peter's University follows the next day. Colgate went 17-31 last year, while Saint Peter's was 30-21.

The Dolphins play their final NEC home series on the 20th and 21st against Wagner College. The Seahawks posted a 13-27 record last year, including 9-12 in NEC action.

The 'Phins play their final 10 games of the regular season on the road. They start the span across town for a doubleheader against Syracuse University. The following day, they head to the Capital Region for a doubleheader at Siena.

The team closes out April back in conference play at Sacred Heart University, which went 18-29 a year ago, including 9-12 in league action.

The Dolphins wrap up the regular season May 4th and 5th at defending tournament champion, LIU. The Sharks won the conference tournament as the second seed after going 14-7 in league play and finished the season 31-26 after going 0-2 at the Tuscaloosa Regional.

The Northeast Conference Championship will feature a four-team field, which will be hosted by the top seed, May 9-11.
 
The NEC Presidents' Council unanimously voted to eliminate access restrictions to NEC championships during an institution's transition to DI. Consequently, current reclassifying institutions Le Moyne and Stonehill are now eligible to compete in the NEC postseason. Should Le Moyne or Stonehill win the NEC Tournament championship, the tournament runner-up will advance to the NCAA Tournament as the NEC's automatic qualifier.
