BRITTANY BRIGANDI ’12 AND 2004 MEN’S LACROSSE TEAM ELECTED TO UPSTATE LACROSSE FOUNDATION, INC. HALL OF FAME

Syracuse, N.Y. – Former Le Moyne College women's lacrosse standout Brittany Brigandi '12 and the 2004 men's lacrosse team have been elected to the Upstate Lacrosse Foundation, Inc. Hall of Fame Class of 2024.

The induction ceremony will be held on Sunday, November 10 at Drumlins Country Club. The 2024 class is the 25th for the Hall of Fame, the fifth under the new Foundation and brings the total number of honorees to 164 individuals, seven teams and three contributors.

Previous Dolphins to earn induction into the Hall of Fame are Brandon Spillett '05 (Class of 2022), Andy Shay '94 (Class of 2019) and Dan Sheehan (Class of 2013).

The first Dolphin in the program's history to earn national player of the year honors, Brigandi is the first Le Moyne women's lacrosse member to earn induction into the Hall of Fame. She was a 2019 inductee into the Le Moyne Gold Wave Hall of Fame and a 2023 inductee into the Northeast-10 Conference Hall of Fame, where she became only the fourth women's lacrosse student-athlete in the Conference's history to be tabbed to the Hall of Fame.

Brigandi was a two-time IWLCA All-America and Northeast-10 Conference All-Conference First Team selection. She tallied 217 points on 182 goals and 35 assists over 49 career games played, while adding 67 draw controls and 49 ground balls. She led the Dolphins to consecutive NCAA Division II tournament berths as a junior and senior and the program's first NE10 regular season championship in 2012. At the completion of her career, she held the program's record for goals and ranked third in points, while she currently ranks tied for fourth in goals and ninth in points. She still is the program's leader in goals per game (3.71) and free-position goals (51) and ranks second in points per game (4.43).

Following an injury-shortened first year with the program after transferring from UMass, Brigandi led the Dolphins to their first NCAA Championship semifinals in 2011 with a then-program record 106 points on a program-best and Division II-leading 87 goals and 19 assists. On April 3 at Merrimack, she tallied a program-best nine goals in a 20-9 victory. After entering her senior season as a member of the Tewaaraton Award Watch List, she earned IWLCA Midfielder of the Year and Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year accolades after leading the Dolphins back to the NCAA semifinals and recording 79 points (fifth-most in the program's history at the time, 16th now) on 66 goals (second-most in the program's history at the time, tied for seventh now) and 13 assists. With her 60th goal of the season, which came against seventh-ranked Stonehill on April 28, 2012, she became the program's career goals scored leader, a spot she held until 2019. Le Moyne's Athlete of the Year as a junior and senior, she is one of only two players in the program's history (joining 2018 Gold Wave Hall of Fame inductee Amanda Daniels '03) to lead the team in goals three times.

The 2004 men's lacrosse team cruised through the regular season and NE10 tournament with a perfect 14-0 record, outscoring their opponents 229 to 67. The dominating season earned the team a home game in the NCAA semifinals for the second straight year, where they defeated New York Tech, 7-5, to earn a berth in the program's first national championship game. In front of over 19,000 fans at Baltimore's M&T Bank Stadium, Limestone entered the final seconds of the fourth quarter with a 10-9 advantage. Le Moyne forced a turnover, allowing junior attackman Brandon Spillett an opportunity with nine seconds left. Dodging to the cage, Spillett slipped the game-tying goal past the Limestone goalie to send the game to overtime. Following a scoreless first overtime period, the Dolphins won the opening faceoff of the second period and capped the remarkable season with another goal by Spillett, his seventh goal of the game, to capture the College's first national championship. The national championship also marked the first by a men's program (regardless of sport) in the Northeast-10 Conference's history.

The Dolphins finished the year 16-0 and became just the third undefeated Division II national champion. The team featured four all-Americans, including Midfielder of the Year Rob Trowbridge, and eight all-conference selections, including the Defensive Player of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year. Three members of the team have since been inducted into the Le Moyne College Gold Wave Hall of Fame.
