Apalachin, N.Y. – Freshman
George Green (Hilton. N.Y./Hilton) tied to 10th place to lead the Le Moyne College men's golf team to a 14th-place finish at the Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational hosted by Binghamton University on Sunday and Monday at the par-72, 7104-yard The Links at Hiawatha Landing.
Sacred Heart University won the team competition with a 13-under par total of 563 following rounds of two-under par 286 and 11-under 277. Binghamton placed second with an even-par 576 after scores of three-under par 285 and three-over par 291. LaSalle University finished third at 579 off rounds of one-under 287 and 292. LaSalle's Benjamin Battye earned medalist honors with an eight-under par 136 following rounds of five-under par 67 and three-under par 69.
Green finished in a seven-way tie for 10th place with an even-par 144, which included five birdies and 28 pars. He opened with a 75, featuring one birdie and 15 pars, on Sunday to land in a nine-way tie for 38th place. He followed with a season-best three-under 69, including four birdies and 13 pars, to vault up the standings.
Junior
Anthony Maglisco (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) landed in a nine-way tie for 36th place with a 149, which featured seven birdies and 17 pars. He tallied an opening-round 73, which included five birdies and seven pars, to finish in an eight-way tie for 22nd. He dipped in the standings with a 76, featuring two birdies and 10 pars, on Monday.
Sophomore
Owen Corby (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) registered a season-best 150, which featured eight birdies and 18 pars, to finish in an eight-way tie for 45th place. He registered a 75, including five birdies and seven pars, in the first round to join Green in the tie for 38th. He turned in another 75, with three birdies and 11 pars, in the second round to slip on the leaderboard.
Freshman
Jacob Moody (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee) finished in a three-way tie for 77th with a 156, which featured an eagle, four birdies and 15 pars. He fired a 77, including an eagle, two birdies and seven pars, on Sunday to land a 13-way tie for 56th. He turned in a 79, including two birdies and eight pars, in the second round to drop in the standings.
Senior
Peter Hatton (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) recorded a 162, including three birdies and 18 pars, to land in a three-way tie for 96th. He posted an 82, featuring three birdies and seven pars, in the first round to place in a three-way tie for 96th. He improved on Monday with an 80, which included 11 pars, to remain in 96th.
The Dolphins close out the season at the Bucknell University Invitational Sunday, Monday and Tuesday at the Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburg, Pa.
