Trent Mosquera (Brookline, Mass./Belmont Hill School) turned in 11 points off the bench. The Dolphins converted on 30 free throws, one shy of their total from last year's meeting in Northridge, while the 40 attempts are the most since also posting 40 against St. Michael's on January 31, 2007.
Adams Jr. tallied 15 of his points in the first half, while also finishing the game with six rebounds. Washington turned in 16 of his points in the second half, while adding four rebounds. Following two free throws by Fouts to break an 11-11 tie, the Matadors scored eight straight points to take the lead for good. Jones made three free throws around a basket in the paint by Festus Ndumanya and then Washington drained a three-pointer with 10:22 left in the first half.
Le Moyne closed within three on a pair of occasions over the next two and one-half minutes, but CSUN scored nine points around a three-pointer from Mosquera to take a nine-point advantage at the 6:21 mark, capped by a conventional three-point play from Fofana.
Following four free throws from Amica and Fouts around another Fofana lay-up, the Matadors took their largest lead of the half with five straight points as Adams Jr. made a pair of long two-pointers around a Martindale free throw.
The teams split the next 14 points before the Dolphins closed out the half with a 9-2 run to cut their deficit to five at 48-43. Amica made a three-pointer, Tekin hit three foul shots over two possessions and then Mosquera buried a shot from mid-court as time expired.
Le Moyne cut its deficit to only three at 52-49 with 17:15 left in the second half on an Amica three-pointer, but CSUN answered with the next six points. Washington made a foul shot, Fofana scored in the paint in transition and then Adams Jr. made a three-pointer with 15:52 to go.
Koroma and Tekin scored in transition 12 seconds apart to pull the Dolphins within five with 14:54 left, but that's as close as they would get the remainder of the game.
Tyler Beard countered with a three-pointer off an offensive rebound to ignite a 16-3 run over 3:24 to take a 74-56 lead. Washington then made three free throws and answered a Mosquera three-pointer with one of his own. After Martindale made two free throws, Washington hit another three-pointer. Ndumanya capped the streak with two foul shots.
Le Moyne responded with a 7-2 spurt to close within 13 with 8:45 to go. Amica and Mosquera made shots before Tekin drilled a three-pointer.
Adams Jr. made a three-pointer at the end of the shot clock on the next possession and then the Matadors went up by 20 for the first time on a lay-up by PJ Fuller II with 5:46 remaining.
CSUN's lead bounced between 19 and 23 points over the next five minutes before Jones converted two free throws for a 97-73 lead with 39 seconds to play.
