Bridgewater, N.J. – Le Moyne College freshman guard
Jakob Blakley (Elgin, Ill./Water Payton Preparatory) has been named the Northeast Conference/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office men's basketball Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Blakley, the first Dolphin to earn top rookie honors in Le Moyne's two seasons in the NEC, collects the honor after scoring a career-high 28 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the field, including a Le Moyne freshman-record 8-of-12 from three-point range, in a 106-51 victory over SUNY Delhi on Saturday afternoon. Blakley, who entered the game with 22 combined points over his first eight career appearances, added career-bests of five rebounds and three steals. The eight three-pointers put him in an eight-way tie for the second-most in a game by a Dolphin in the program's history, are the most-ever by a Dolphin in a home game and are the most since Chris Johnson '12 made eight at Pace on February 16, 2011. There were six Dolphins on eight occasions who made seven three-pointers in a home game, the most recent of which was Ryan Roland '20 against Saint Anselm on January 25, 2020. The eight three-pointers were also an NEC single-game season-high and the most by an NEC freshman since Bryant's Adam Grant hit nine against Sacred Heart on January 14, 2017.
Blakley and the Dolphins are back in action on Wednesday at Dartmouth College at 11:00 a.m.
