Geneva, N.Y. – Anthony Dattellas registered eight points to lead Hobart College to a 20-9 win over the Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team on Saturday afternoon at Boswell Field at Urick Stadium.
Le Moyne scored the first goal of the game just under three minutes into the contest as redshirt junior attackman
Ethan Loun (West Linn, Ore./West Linn) tallied his 10th goal of the season.
The Statesmen answered with three goals in just 84 seconds. Following a pushing penalty on the Dolphins with 10:55 left in the quarter, Dattellas netted his 13th goal of the season only 15 seconds later off a feed from Sam Ward. Chris Patterson followed 40 seconds later with his ninth goal of the year. He scored again 44 seconds later.
Graduate student midfielder
Jack Grooms (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Hobart) got the Dolphins within one of his former teammates with his sixth goal of the season with 6:49 left in the period.
Hobart scored three times over the final 4:30 of the quarter to take a 6-2 lead after one quarter of play. Chad Bach started the run with his third goal of the season. Dattellas netted his second goal of the game with 1:17 to go off a dish from Bach. Ward completed the scoring with 15 ticks left after collecting a feed from Dattellas.
The Statesmen scored the first three goals of the second quarter to go up 9-2. Will Delano started the streak at the 11:44 by scoring off a feed from James Greene in an extra-man situation. David Peterkin followed 29 seconds later with his 10th goal of the season after taking a pass from Dattellas, which forced a Le Moyne timeout. Patterson scored his third goal of the game with 5:07 to cap the run.
The Dolphins countered with back-to-back goals. Senior attackman
Joey Pezzimenti (Victor, N.Y./Victor/UAlbany) found the back of the net for the seventh time this season with 4:23 remaining. Junior midfielder
Ryan Eisenmann (Boca Raton, Fla./Boca Raton) scored 29 seconds later in an extra-man situation after scooping up the rebound after his initial shot was saved.
Dattellas closed out the scoring in the half with 3:37 left off a dish from Bach.
Le Moyne scored the first two goals of the third quarter to cut its deficit to four. Pezzimenti scored with 11:48 left off a pass from senior midfielder

Isaac Frechette (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) then tallied his fifth goal of the year after receiving a feed from senior swingman

The teams then each scored in a span of one minute. Patterson put in his fourth goal of the contest with 7:41 left off a dish from Delano. Junior midfielder
Olin Stanat (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) answered just 55 seconds later with his fourth goal of the season.
Hobart extended its lead back to seven with the final three goals of the quarter. Peterkin started the run with his 11th goal of the year with 5:57 left off a pass from Greene, who then fed Delano with 3:43 remaining for his eighth goal. Peterkin capped the quarter's scoring with 51 seconds left off a dish from Dattellas.
The Statesmen took advantage of a two-minute unreleasable penalty on the Dolphins to blow the game open with three goals in less than 100 seconds. Just 21 seconds into the extra-man situation, Alex Rosa recorded his eighth goal of the season at the 12:59 mark after receiving a pass from Ward. Rosa scored again 40 seconds later off a pass from Greene, which forced a Dolphin timeout. With the Statesmen now up two men following another cross-check penalty on the Dolphins, Rosa tallied his third goal in 95 seconds after taking a pass from Dattellas, who earned his fourth assist of the game.
With the teams back to 10-on-10 action, the Statesmen scored two more goals for their largest lead of the game. Dattellas netted his fourth goal of the game with 10:11 left off a dish from Michael Cardinali. Max Snellenburg followed with his first goal of the season with 7:14 to go off a pass from Ward.
Frechette snapped the run with 2:52 remaining off a pass from Eisenmann.
Jack Schleicher completed the scoring for the Statesmen with his first goal of the season with 2:38 to play after collecting the ground ball on the ensuing faceoff.
Loun wrapped up the game's scoring with 57 seconds remaining.
Redshirt freshman goalkeeper
Carter Ruhm (Apalachin, N.Y./Vestal/Bridgton Academy/Robert Morris) registered a career-high 16 saves over 52:46 between the pipes. Elhanan Wilson earned the win after making 10 saves.
Le Moyne (2-4) is back in action next Saturday for its home opener against St. John's University at 12:00 p.m. At halftime of the contest, the 2004 team will be recognized in honor of the 20-year anniversary of their national championship victory.
