New Britain, Conn. – The Le Moyne baseball team dropped game two of its Northeast Conference series at Central Connecticut State University by a score of 11-2 on Saturday afternoon.
The CCSU Blue Devils held a 3-1 lead after six innings, then added three runs in the seventh and five more in the eighth to pull away and clinch the series victory.
The Dolphins and the Blue Devils will play game three on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the CCSU Baseball Field.
Senior shortstop
Nick Nevins (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) scored both runs for the Dolphins on Saturday. Nevins launched his team-leading sixth home run of the season, a solo shot, in the top of the sixth to cut Le Moyne's deficit to 2-1, then he crossed the plate for a second time in the eighth on an RBI double from graduate first baseman

Max Parker (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) tallied six strikeouts in 6.2 innings pitched, then freshman lefty

Jason Boule (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) recorded a team-high two hits for the Dolphins.
Junior second baseman Brady Short, who went 3-for-4 at the plate during CCSU's 3-2 win in game one on Friday, went 4-for-5 at the plate with two runs scored and two RBIs for the Blue Devils on Saturday.
CCSU junior first baseman Aidan Redahan was a perfect 3-for-3 during the win, while senior right fielder Joe Rios went 2-for-4 with two runs batted in.
CCSU junior left-handed starting pitcher Vincent Spizzoucco improved his record to 2-0 this season after limiting the Dolphins to four hits, four walks and one run with eight strikeouts in 6.0 innings. Graduate right-handed reliever Wyatt Cameron allowed zero hits, zero runs and one walk with four strikeouts in the final two innings.
With the Dolphins trailing 6-1, Nevins led off the top of the eighth inning with a walk, then Roden drove a pitch into the right-center field gap which allowed Nevins to score from first and trim the deficit to 6-2. Junior catcher
Benji Ries (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) drew a walk to put runners on first and second, then following a pitching change junior right fielder
Wyatt Patchett (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) drew a walk to load the bases with zero outs.
With the tying run at the plate, Cameron recorded a strikeout, then the Blue Devils spun a 4-6-3 double play to end the inning and keep their lead at four runs.
CCSU added five runs in the bottom of the eighth to make it 11-2, then Cameron struck out the side in the top of the ninth to end the game.
