BASEBALL FALLS TO STONEHILL, 11-7

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Stonehill College Skyhawks registered an 11-7 win over the Le Moyne baseball team on Saturday in game one of a three-game Northeast Conference series at Dick Rockwell Field.

The two sides will conclude the series on Sunday with two nine-inning games beginning at 12 p.m.

Eight Skyhawks recorded an RBI during the win, with left fielder Conor Kiely, catcher Blaine Lidsky and right fielder Evan Dieter leading the charge with two RBI each. Lidsky added three hits and two runs scored, while designated hitter Taylor Gaspar also provided three hits with game-high three runs scored and an RBI.

Shortstop Nick Nevins (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) recorded a team-high three hits for the Dolphins, while left fielder Jason Boule (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) launched his second home run of the season, a three-run shot in the bottom of the seventh that cut Le Moyne's deficit to 11-7.

The Dolphins were unable to put a runner in scoring position during the eighth and ninth innings as Stonehill senior right-handed pitcher Joe Castrichini recorded the final six outs to secure the win.

Freshman right-hander Braydon Gray recorded his second win of the season after entering the game in the bottom of the first and completing 5.0 innings of work with six hits and one earned run allowed.

Le Moyne left-handed starting pitcher Max Parker (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) took his first loss of the season after allowing four earned runs in 4.2 innings, then right-hander Kennen Smith (Poughquag, N.Y./Arlington) recorded three strikeouts with one run allowed in 2.1 innings, and freshman left-hander Jack Cannon (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) tossed two perfect innings with three strikeouts.
