Bridgewater, N.J. – Graduate first baseman/right-handed pitcher Dewey Roden (Sherrill, N.Y./Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) has been named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week for week 12 of the baseball season.

Roden helped the Dolphins to a 3-1 week after slashing .636/.688/1.636 with six runs, two doubles, three home runs and nine runs batted in during a conference sweep of University of Maryland Eastern Shore last weekend at Dick Rockwell Field.

Roden began the week as Le Moyne's starting pitcher for a non-conference matchup at Canisius. The graduate right-hander went 6.0 innings and limited the Griffs to five hits and four runs with five strikeouts in his seventh start of the season.

Le Moyne began its NEC series against the UMES Hawks with a doubleheader on Friday, and Roden had an outstanding day at the park to help lead the Dolphins to two wins by scores of 8-4 and 20-8.

During game one, Roden went 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs, four RBIs and a season-high three extra-base hits with a home run and two doubles. He ripped a double down the left field line in the third inning, lifted a sacrifice fly to center field in the bottom of the fifth to make it 2-0 in favor of the Dolphins, then he led off the seventh with a double and came around to score on a two-run home run from Brady Fureno. In the eighth inning, Roden extended Le Moyne's lead to 8-0 with a three-run home run to left-center field.

In the second half of the Friday doubleheader, Roden once again went 3-for-3 at the plate with four RBIs and helped the Dolphins achieve two single game team program records. With a solo home run in the bottom of the first, and a three-run home run in the fourth, Roden recorded his first career multi-home run game. The Dolphins launched eight home runs in total during the 20-8 win, which tied a program record. Roden also drew two walks during the win, and the Dolphins set a new program record with 15 total walks during the contest. He also scored a season-high three runs in game two.

Roden was also named an NEC Prime Performer for the first time this season. He is the fourth Le Moyne player to earn NEC Player of the Week honors. Brody Keneston (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) and Nick Nevins (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) claimed the award in back-to-back weeks at the end of February and the beginning of March, then Benji Ries (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) was named player of the week at the beginning of April.

The Le Moyne baseball team will return to action on Tuesday at Niagara, then they will host Merrimack for a three-game conference series at Dick Rockwell Field beginning on Friday at 3:00 p.m.
