MEN’S GOLF PLACES 13TH AT JOE FEAGANES MARSHALL INVITATIONAL

Huntington, W. Va. – Freshman Jacob Moody (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee) and junior Anthony Maglisco (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) finished in a tie for 39th place to lead the Le Moyne College men's golf team to a 13th-place finish at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at the par-71 Guyan Golf & Country Club.

The host Thundering Herd cruised to the team title with a 28-under par 824 to win by 14 strokes after tallying rounds of 13-under 271, nine-under 275 and six-under 278. Longwood University placed second with a 13-under par 839 off scores of six-under 278, five-under 279 and two-under 282. Morehead State University finished one shot back in third at 12-under 840 following rounds of one-under 283, 13-under 271 and two-over 286. The Dolphins placed 13th with an 885 off scores of 293, 298 and 294. Marshall's Cameron Jarvis won medalist honors by one stroke with an eight-under par 205 following rounds of even-par 71, seven-under par 64 and one-under par 70.

Moody and Maglisco were part of a 10-way tie for 39th place in the 86-member field with a six-over 219.

Moody, who recorded nine birdies and 33 pars over the 54 holes, opened the invitational with a one-over par 72, which included four birdies and 10 pars. He followed with a 74, which featured three birdies and 11 pars, in the second round to finish the day in a tie for 42nd place. He moved up three spots on Tuesday with a two-over par 73, which included two birdies and 12 pars.

Maglisco, who tallied seven birdies and 36 pars over the three rounds, turned in a 74 in the first round, which featured 14 pars and one birdie. He then posted a 76 in the afternoon, including two birdies and 10 pars, to land in a tie for 69th place. He jumped up 30 spots with a two-under par 69 in the third round, which featured four birdies and 12 pars.

Sophomore Owen Corby (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) finished in a six-way tie for 61st with a 222, which included an eagle, eight birdies and 28 pars. Like Maglisco, he carded a 74 in the first round and a 76 in the second round. He recorded four birdies and eight pars in the opening round and one birdie and 11 pars in the afternoon. He improved eight spots on Tuesday with a one-over par 72, which included an eagle, three birdies and nine pars.

Senior Peter Hatton (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) placed 78th with a 228 over the 54 holes, which included 10 birdies and 24 pars. He registered back-to-back rounds of 73 on Monday to land in a tie for 42nd place. He carded four birdies and nine pars in the opening 18 and closed the day with three birdies and 10 pars in the afternoon. He recorded an 82 on Tuesday, which featured three birdies and five pars, to slip in the standings.

Freshman Mac Quinn (Glenwood, N.Y./Canisius HS) tied for 80th with a 230, which featured seven birdies and 27 pars. He tallied consecutive rounds of 75 on Monday to land in a tie for 69th place. He opened the day with four birdies and seven pars and turned in one birdie and 12 pars in the second 18. He registered an 80 in the final round, including two birdies and eight pars, to dip in the standings.

The Dolphins are back on the links on Monday, September 16 for the first two rounds of the River Run Collegiate hosted by Davidson College at River Run Country Club in Davidson, North Carolina.
