Jack Gibson (Ilion, N.Y./Central Valley Academy) placed third to lead the Le Moyne College men's cross country team to a third-place finish at the Daemen Alumni Invitational Saturday morning at Bassett Park. Senior
Anita Jepchirchir (Eldoret, Kenya/The Kenya High School) placed fourth overall to lead the Dolphins to a fifth-place finish.
On the men's side, Roberts Wesleyan won the team competition with 46 points after seniors Owen White and Zachary Hall finished 2nd and 5th. Daemen University were 12 points behind with a team score of 58, as Le Moyne finished just one point behind with 29 points.
Gibson led the way for the Dolphins on the eight-kilometer course, crossing the finish line in a time of 27:02.7 placing 3rd overall. Freshman
Liam Rocks (Jersey City, N.J./St. Peter's Prep) finished seven seconds behind Gibson with a time of 27:Â 09.5 placing 4th overall. Sophomore
Mike Purvis (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) earned an 11th place finish with a time of 27:17.1. Freshman
Carson Campbell (Lee Center, N.Y./Rome Free Academy) placed 20th overall, crossing the finish line in a time of 29:48.3. Junior
Jake Roman (Liverpool, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse/SUNY Morrisville) finished two spots behind Campbell with a time of 30:03.1 placing 26th overall. Freshman
Brendan O'Rourke (New Milford, N.J./Bergen Catholic) crossed the finish line seven seconds behind Roman with a time of 30:10.4 and placing 28th overall. Freshman
Michael Daley (Schenectady, N.Y./Schenectady) rounded out the scoring for the Dolphins placing 34th overall with a time of 30:48.8.
On the women's side, Daemen won the team competition with 50 points after seniors Courtney Merrill and Camryn Bailey placed 2nd and 5th overall. Niagara finished 2nd overall with a team score of 65 points, and D'Youville finishing 12 points behind them witt a team score of 77 points.
Jepchirchir led the way for the Dolphins on the five-kilometer course, crossing the finish line in a time of 19:26.0 placing 4th overall. Freshman
Isabella O'Donnell (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) earned herself an 8th place finish with a time of 19:49.2. Sophomore
Mackenzie Ples (Lowville, N.Y./Lowville) completed the five-kilometer course placing 14th overall with a time of 20:11.9. Sophomore
Stephanie James (Schenectady, N.Y./Scotia-Glenville) earned a time of 22:19.9 placing 33rd overall. Sophomores
Amanda Lowenguth (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas),
Angelina Rodriguez (Greenfield Center, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) and freshman
Caitlin Lamphier (Woodhull, N.Y./Jasper-Troupsburg) finished 41st, 42nd and 43rd overall to round out the scoring for the Dolphins.
